Day One of HRT: Estradiol, Down the Hatch...

May 31, 2011 18:53

And suddenly I want to knit, read Vogue, and wear high heels. I can't explain it. Just kidding. But in all seriousness, I just got back from the endocrinology office. I was so nervous in the waiting room, surrounded by elderly patients with diabetes (they are a split endo/diabetes clinic). I felt a little strange, because I seemed to be the only ( Read more... )

WOOT!
Yeah for a great start. I managed to avoid most of the side effects (though my eyes hate every-time I adjust my estrogen dosage, get a little headache for like 3 days, but not too bad). I started out with the one tab every day for a week then two per day. After my first appointment I bumped up to two tabs twice a day and am now at like 5 months in I am at three pills twice a day. It adds up pretty darn quick. The changes are slow sadly but it works out well that way I think.

Hrm, yeah, the doc said I could wait just a day or two to increase the dosage, as long as I don't get any apparent side effects. We'll see how it goes, I suppose.

HOLY FREAKING WOW I'M SO EXCITED!!

I mean. Sorry. Outburst. I'm full of those today.

Being excited is a super AMAZING thing. I always worry everytime I go into the doctor he is going to want to slow things but not so far.
So be happy all the time!!!

Hah, thanks you two. I dunno, I'm still like, slightly freaking out that I will somehow be on hormones for a while and *nothing will fucking happen* and I'll be doomed to look like a guy in drag for eternity. My self image is all wonky: I feel like I look too mannish, even if people tell me otherwise.

For a while, it will probably look like nothing's happening. That's why the progress pics are important. You don't notice slight changes day-to-day. But you'll be able to look back in a while and see "Hey, I actually *am* making progress!!"
