Old Friends, and the Problem of Karaoke

Apr 28, 2011 12:08

I am meeting with an old friend later today. I haven't seen him in a couple years it seems, and before that, we didn't talk for several years back then too. Prior to losing touch, we were what you might consider best friends. And the funny thing was that it was a very bro kind of hetero friendship. Back in the day (wow, I can't think of many ( Read more... )

You are so silly. How many times do I have to tell you that if you practice enough you can make your voice go as high as you want it to. I used to only be able to sing alto but now I have a three and a half octave range, I just don't use it very often because I'm embarrassed by...singing well. Anyway what I'm trying to say in a very roundabout way is keep trying. You judge yourself very harshly and you have a lovely regular singing voice and it will be AMAZING with more practice; you have a bigger confidence issue than talent issue honestly. No bias necessary.

I know it's not even a talent thing at this point, I would just like to work on my female speaking voice first before anything else, and then I'll work on my singing voice again. It seems like it would be easier once I'm used to talking in a higher octave all the time.

Oh blah. Well, I did find out that I can sing better when I'm not yelling. I'm going to try that more. So there.

Yep, they did the snipping before the voice changed... I feel ya as far as the singing, I used to really enjoy singing, but I have like no range now. It takes a lot of practice for sure. Your voice will not change in pitch, but I have found that there are inflection changes i.e. I put a lilt on words now that I didn't do before. There are a ton of little subtle things that the hormones will affect, and I think that each person is different. I have honestly found that my thinking pattern is totally different also. So it is definitely a give and take process, and obviously will take time for you to adjust to them.
