Shakti Fest at Joshua Tree

May 16, 2017 13:08

This past weekend was my first time at Shakti Fest.

1. The energy at Joshua Tree is intense and so palpable, and the fact that there was a full moon IN SCORPIO made it all the more intense for any meditative work I had done while there (movement and meditation, sitting meditation, yoga practice, sound healing, etc).
2. I got to witness first hand how my brother works and it was really inspiring and motivating. I'm striving towards reaching my own unique level of work that allows and affords me the things I need and want in my life.
3. Cultural appropriation is definitely a thing. But intentions and love and transparency and honesty are also values held by a lot of the workers and attendees of Shakti. For those not making a profit and exploiting cultures via capitalist ventures, I could see from interactions with people and the conversations I had that appreciation and devotion were at the heart of their actions.

I was able to take some great yoga classes (Shiva Rae, Erica) experienced some awesome sound healing with gongs, had a great massage from Samson, picked up some wondnerful crystal friends, had wonderful conversations, gave away and left some Make a Mark pieces, hung out with Crisanto and Tracy and the gang, ate great food and meditated on desert grounds in front of a cactus underneath the stars and a full moon.

I feel charged, recharged, and ready to manifest some intentions!
