Last week I had to deal with a kid who had cut himself while he was completely intoxicated. Long story short he threatened to kill me and other student staff while we were worrying about his bleeding hand which he managed to cut open without knowing exactly how.
So, now I have to goto court next week on the one day I have finals, two of them, and deal with this all over again. I don't think he will do too well since the 8 police officers who showed up will more than likely have to attend, and this student swore at them and hit on/used sexual jokes toward the only female officer. I was quite surprised her male partner didn't beat the crap out of the kid right there and then. The officers were extremely friendly and patient. They also found out some juicy stuff about the law. Here are a few that make me smile:
1. Threatening a member who works for a school and therefore the state, either student staff/faculty/or staff, is considered a terrorist threat against the state punishable by 25+ years.
2. Verbal threats against student staff/staff/faculty, and aggrivated assult charges on the federal level and; therefore, are arrestable charges.
Though I really don't like most of what is going on with me right now, the fact that I now have to goto court because I not only did my job as a student staff member, but also because I worried enough about this kids cut hand to have it bandaged up.
Off I go to pound my head on the wall.....
