Well, for once, I have stories to share about thanksgiving that arent boring and repetitive. I stayed up in Lansing for the majority of the weekend, and my family came up to work on the house Thursday morning
We actually had a very productive weekend. We ended up getting most of the tiles put down and grouted. Theres one we need to have cut - we dont have a wet saw... I also was able to knock out the structure of the stand for my coral propogation system (read: money making venture that actually will work). I still need to get the sump/fuge in there, a pump, some plumbing, and lights, but the following picture shows the gist of it. We also got to experience Sparrow Hospital's ER. My dad sliced his head open on a duct in the basement requiring 7 stitches. I also managed to bash two of my teeth loose, so right now I'm hoping they heal back up properly. The dentist gave me a 90% chance at having them heal normally.
Thats the prop tank. I'm hoping to have it stocked beginning of January and sales starting within a month of that. Maybe sooner depending on how things grow.
Friday we did some black friday shopping but for the most part it sucked, and then headed home. So that was my thanksgiving. I got to spend some time with Erika and the family so that's always good.
I realized yesterday that we have two weeks before the first day of finals. My finals schedule kind of sucks. I have Calc 3 10-noon on Monday, Digital Logic 12:45-2:45 Wednesday, Circuits from 7:45-9:45am Thursday, and ISS Friday from 10-noon. The one that really bites is the friday one. I want so much to get out of here early.
Speaking of which, Thursday is my meeting with the complex director and hall manager to determine if I will be allowed to move off campus. I've got some good points, but I am so terrified that I wont be given permission to live in the house that we own and have been working on. I understand the fact that I technically signed a contract binding me to stay in the dorms for a year, and that I should be bowing to the gods of MSU who might even consider letting me break the contract - but honestly, relative to the money generated by tuition alone, but then adding in housing, I think that the ~$2700 for my room and board is negligible to their income, and likely will be made up in the fact that tuition will continue to increase in price.
At any rate - I'm really not adhering to my rules of getting to bed by midnight, and also the doing homework early and pretty much every other productive rule I've set forth for myself, so I'm going to get to bed, nearly 2 hours late, and feel upset that not everything is as it should be. Oh well, this semester is almost over, and after that, only 2.5 more years, or 3.5 if I go for my 5-year-masters.
