What can I say about last nights penultimate episode of this seasons Doctor Who ?
A great deal I suspect but lets keep it short.
Way too much 'family' and nowhere near enough Davros sums it up.
The pointless, painful slow reveal of Davros, skulking about barely visible in the shadows was a waste of good screen time, time in which rather than all the hugging we did have going on, would have been better spent with some serious head to head time with Davros and the Doctor. Or Davros and us.
The gimmicky "just who or what is that in the shadows" fell flat because well, almost every viewer would have already known Davros was back and more importantly, where is the logic in Davros skulking around in the darkness where no one can see him...on board his own ship ?
Expect more family business next week when Mickey and Jackie Tyler ( Rose's mum ) return in the finale....
As for the rest of the narrative indigestion that played out on the screen. Take a Rennie, yes it was that bad. Not helped by RTD shamelessly reusing his groan inducing plot point from last years finale, the "billions of voices simultaneoulsy calling out the Doctors name" becomes " the billions of phone messages simulataneously calling the Doctors phone". What a hack.
So, that mess aside that just leaves the following to ponder.
Is Donna Noble The Master ? Observant folk will have noted she has been wearing a strange big ring from day one and in last nights epsiode she had a severe "Attack of the Drums" in her noggin whilst being handed her soup.
Or is Donna merely under the control of The Master, and we are meant to assume the female hand seen picking up The Master's ring at the end of last year was Donna's.
Place your bets now.
