Wow, life is all movement, but there ain't a lot to say for it. I mean, Lanzarote was fun, although I barely remember it now. Coming home to the ice, and a particularly cold Wednesday made me think of here as the perfect venue to vent my frozen rage about having to walk home from work for over 4 miles or when I went out, and got drunk with deadlybuzz and sledded down hills in his local park in the snow. I could write mini-reviews about all the old books and graphic novels I've read in the last few months; although I'm quite sure I'd only repeat what others have probably put far more eloquently. But generally work and social life has knocked the energy, and will, to write out of me. I don't even have time to make and enjoy a pot of nice (specialty) tea; despite having gotten a selection of it from my dad for Christmas.

Last year, I had a rant sitting in as my draft for an entry on here, one to talk about the complete head-screwing nature of alopecia (no pun intended) but I deleted it to gloat about being on holiday and away from the bone-chilling cold (although, at the time, I had no idea how bad it was back home). It's probably better I deleted it, it was turning into a self-pitying rant, although I still feel that at some time it would be useful to put it out there. It basically boils down to what it's done for my own perception of my gender, boy it's cold in winter, and I sometimes have a weird relationship with the reality of the situation in my mind. That is, sometimes I will realise "Ye Gods! I have no hair.", despite having told people that I had absolutely no need to shave for the past year or so. By the way, a point that I didn't realise at the time would have been the lynchpin to that entire post - Sweet ass-riding JESUS!* I HAVE NO NASAL HAIR. That thought's been entertaining me since I realised that I never checked and asked a friend to check for me - he even took a photo to prove it to me! Really, you have no idea just how entertaining that was.

Anyway, the fact is work is keeping me busy. So busy, in fact, that I'll be missing my mum's birthday, although I will hopefully be out of the country at the time, and possibly drinking with some crazy Czech guys. Despite having to work, it should be ok. Work is interesting, and is essentially a constant stream of unix-related puzzles that have to be solved. But it's tiring. Still, I'm glad to have it, especially when I considered my graduation; the folks that had jobs pretty much knew they had them when they were leaving. I hung on until September, but I got one in my old company, which I wouldn't be working in if it wasn't for Netsoc. I really actually need to pay that back/forward/up/down/strange/charm in some way; I always thought a talk on "how to pull results out of your ass with unix" would be something I'd like to do (I did that in Final Year and got some pretty good numbers). I mean, it's only fair, they're the only reason I thought to apply, or gained enough skills to be able to get the job. So I owe 'em something at least.

All in all I think it's as clear as a very snowy day that intent of this post is to say that my company is going to be shipping this nasal-hairless beast of nature over to Prague soon enough. That should be fun.

* By the way, as far as I'm concerned, that's no blasphemy. The Bible clearly states he rode an ass at least once in his life.

alopecia, random, work
