Grrrr..... Insert standard open source reply here.

Trying to make a boxplot in linux is unpleasant.

You'd think it would be simpler, but really, it's not. I was going to use Orange but I'm finding it pretty impossible to get working on here. Apparently there's one guy working on it, just one, and I think the snapshot I'm using is dodgy (given that I even have to use a snapshot and not a stable release says something).

So, I'm googling like a crazed gnat with ADHD trying to get something that will do things. Instead, I end up with a metric shiteload of libraries that will do things for me, but no actual programs that seem easily able to do it for me!

Now, I'm onto something called MatPlotLib - a matlab equivalent, and it's the best I'm going to get for the time being.

Just a simple freaking boxplot. That's all I want!

So, it looks like it's time for the standard OSS reply of "Well, if you want it that badly, write it for yourself, and then share it for others to use."

*headdesk* You'd think with this many academics using this freaking platform, that there'd be something for doing the sort of graphs that you'd expect in a paper. Now I see where the naysayers come from - on the other hand, I'm not going back.

techy, academic, linux, work, nerdy
