Today was possibly the loveliest day we've had all year. And I dressed up in honor of it--wore my white peasant skirt and my pink tank top with the penguins, and I even brought out the pink sandals that match it. I wore Lisa's pink pearl earrings, intending to give them back to her, but I sort of forgot. And I finished out my ensemble with my customary huge black Inuyasha bag. XD
I have no idea why I felt the need to share that with you all; I could have just said "I felt pretty today" and left it at that, but no.
Any episode that opens with Sawyer and Sayid shirtless at the same time wins my Squeal of Approval. Also, I think I sort of have the hots for pirate!Desmond now. I love how they pick him up, and five minutes later he's lying on the beach, drinking rum. Welcome to the Caribbean creepy island, luv. And really. Desmond David Hume? Kind of makes me wish I knew more about philosophers or that I, you know, could understand philosophy at all.
You know, back in February I decided that I didn't like Charlie as a character. But all he has to do is that little curl of his lip and I just want to jump him hardcore. I am, however, creeped out that Eko took his belt off. If it had been, say, Sawyer it would have been my fangirl fantasy, but Eko and Locke are so weird and manipulative that they don't get to have sex on my fantasy version of the island.
And GOD, I so thought they were both dead after the dynamite incident. Eko, at least, should be dead. I fretted the whole time until we saw Charlie alive again.
I have a bone to pick with good old Captain Jack, though. Sawyer gets stuck by a dart, and Jack LEAVES HIM TWITCHING ON THE GROUND. Which is understandable, I guess, except when Kate gets hit by a dart, HE DOESN'T LEAVE HER BEHIND. Way to play favorites, asshole. Also, while they were gagged? There was major eyefuckage going on there, and Sawyer wasn't gettin' any.
And on a final note: Kisses! Oh my god, kisses. Only took two entire seasons. But...didn't he kidnap her baby like, eleven episodes ago? Which is maybe two weeks, island time? I don't know, it just seemed kind of abrupt. Not that I'm really complaining, because the island is so creepy that it needs a good dose of fluffy cuteness. ;)
The second half of this season? so much better than the first half.
I am so, so pissed about Wolfwood. Maybe it's because I associated him with Sirius from, oh, the first time he showed up on-screen. The scene where he worked on the motorcycle made me squee out loud. I want Vash/Wolfwood fic. Angsty what-might-have-beens a plus. I am so, so pissed that he died. Even though I get it, he was going to betray Vash but he didn't and so he paid with his life. I don't have to like it to understand it.
And he was such a bad priest. He and Eko should get together sometime.
As for the finale...I think it was kind of anticlimax, but then, I don't know how else it could have played out. Vash couldn't have killed him, not after everything that had happened before. For me the climax was either "Paradise"--because I tend to get way too attached to minor characters--or "Sin." Legato was sincerely fucked-up, and the games he was playing with Vash's conscience were awesome.
So. Trigun = excellent, although I don't think it dislodges any of the trifecta of awesome (Bebop, Kenshin, and FMA) at the top of my anime list.
