Supernatural Ratings Woes Grow
Dear Sera -
You have two amazing leads, a strong supporting cast, a heartbreaking story arc, and a loyal unto rabid fandom -- why are your ratings falling?
Could it be because we see no light at the end of the tunnel. We'll scream and cry and enjoy anything you throw at us in the dark as long as we can see even the tiniest spark of hope there ahead of us. And we can't.
You're exploring some amazing things this season, you're pulling great work out of both Jared and Jensen, but without the hope of redemption, of resolution, of triumph, amazing story lines and great work doesn't matter. If we want to spend an hour watching unmitigated misery, there's always the news.
And yes, you're dealing with an extended character arc, I understand. But you need to understand in turn that it's hard to enjoy the journey when all road signs point only to more pain.
Anyway, lack of hope. That's my theory. As always, the mileage of others may vary.
