It came about as she was in the middle of training with Wade. Emma wanted to see Haylie in her office, and when she got there, Worth was waiting. An hour later, they were on a plane to Nevada on some hush hush recovery mission with orders to limit the body count, not get caught, and bring back some special plane.
And said plane was hidden somewhere in the middle of the desert. Fan-fucking-tastic. Haylie didn't have time to question why she was the one going along versus someone like Wraith or Wade, who were a little more suited for stealth missions. Her powers were ridiculously obvious and loud most times. Granted, it was well-established in her file and among the camp that she refused to kill anyone if it could be avoided. Wade had no problem killing, so that part made sense. But why not Wraith?
Dusting some sand off of herself after their ride left, she cast a glance over her shoulder at Worth and almost laughed at how differently-dressed they were. He had his full uniform, kevlar vest, and a belt full of weapons and items and Haylie? She hardly looked like some secret military agent in her camoflage tank top and dark brown shorts, hair pulled up into a ponytail, and a small med pack slung over her shoulder.
"So we're lookin' for a plane. In the middle of the desert. Yeah, this should be open-and-shut." She drawled sarcastically, grabbing the pair of sunglasses that were hanging from the neckline of her tank top and putting them on. Handling the harsh desert weather was nothing for her; it was the bright sunlight that was a bit of a problem right now.
