Mission Why-Ferals-Need-To-Be-Kept-On-Short-Leashes. Locked to captaine_sykes

The last mission Daken had been on was the one which had led him to Team X in the first place. He’d found his place in the organized chaos that made up the camp. Eventually he’d lost the restlessness that plagued him the first few months from lack of activity. Now that he was actually on one, it had all come back to him. Trained as the good ( Read more... )

Daken was unruffled by the glare Ethan was giving him. He was well aware that his physical attributes made him stand out in any crowd like a peacock among crows. "If I could fool the genius crowd that makes up the sorry team on base, I can fool a bunch of military mooks." Yes, that was a slight jab at Ethan's skills at keeping invaders out.

The claws slid reluctantly back into their owner's fists. The mutant could afford patience for the moment. He would save the real aggression for when they got inside. The muscles in his legs tensed, coiled and waiting for the truck's approach. Closer....and closer.....

Then, with a sudden movement, Daken was off. His speed, already impressively swift, was matched by his stealth. No movement was heard as he approached the truck. He might as well have been a ghost as he moved to the trailer. Finding a suitable place to hide, he remained as silent as a statue, waiting with the patience of the solitary predator. The rumblings of the truck slowed to a halt as they approached the gates, sped up, and then slowed once more before the engine was shut off completely. They were in.

"Oddly enough I give these idiots running the facility a better chance of spotting you than the team." Though Daken was raising a valid point, one that he's repeatedly tried to resolve. But until he was given permission to beat sense into the team he'd have to get by with just hoping that they learnt.

Though nowhere near as silent or still as Daken, Ethan managed to get onto the vehicle and hidden away with ease. With the engine now silent Ethan listened into the conversations being had between the truck driver and, what he assumed were either soldiers or staff in the facility. From the way their conversation was going he got the feeling that they were more likely to be staff.

Sliding down to the ground Ethan crawled between the wheels and waited till the group had moved off inside before checking that the coast was clear. Waiting till he has eyes on Daken he gestures that the feral should go clear out the immediate area and get them clothing, whilst Ethan disables the cameras and gets them into the building using the access codes that Bradley had hacked for them.

Ethan gets in with little fuss and waits just inside the entrance way for Daken, wondering what on earth the feral is up to now?!

Giving Daken permission to do whatever he liked while Ethan was off doing the technical work was like letting a child run around with scissors in their hands, although in Daken's case, perhaps a chainsaw fit the analogy better. Something bad was bound to happen.

His senses were on high alert as his body slipped across the floor without so much a rustle to alert his position to anyone. The feral talked a great game, but seeing him in action was something else entirely. He let loose the animal within, letting it hunt and kill to suit his whims. Isolating one soldier was easy enough and a simple snap of the neck got him the uniform he needed. Dissatisfied with the lack of blood, he deliberately sought out another group of four soldiers.

Engaging them directly, he dodged and ducked without taking so much as a graze from the bullets being blazed in his direction. Each went down in a painful, bloody manner, claws being used to tear and rip them into bloody chunks. Selecting another uniform, he went to go meet Sykes, not caring that the element of surprise had been lost as one soldier radioed in a warning. Convienently, he forgot to tell the Captain this as he showed up, a fine spray of blood coating him.

"Shall we move on?" He asked with a disarming and mocking smile.

The metallic tang of blood in the air and the blood spatter across Daken's body indicates that the feral has been taking matters into his own hands. Ethan manages to restrain himself, taking the uniform that Daken has retrieved and slipping it on, not caring that he is forced to strip down to his boxers, back flush with the wall incase anyone happens to stumble across them.

The facility is clearly not run by fools and instead of sirens blaring and lights flashing the silent alarm has been triggered thanks to Daken and his antics. Ethan is blissfully unaware of this fact and as he straightens his stolen uniform he searches for a radio, however it's been broken when the original owner fell on it having been butchered by Daken.

Raising an eyebrow at the feral Ethan just hopes that they can grab a new one, opening the door and heading out into the corridor. There are people milling about, a sense of nervous tension is almost palpable and Ethan casts Daken a confused look before trying to blend in.

Taking a moment to snap out of his focused mood to enjoy the sight of Ethan stripping before him with an amused expression on his face, Daken was soon focused back to the task at hand. He had a job to do and he was determined to do it right. After all, his perfect record had been tarnished due to his failure to kill Ric. Such a black mark was not acceptable.

His outward appearance was calm to the point of almost being casual, but there was no mistaking the sharp look in his eyes as the feral kept his guard up for the first sign of trouble. Perhaps alerting the base to their presence hadn't been the smartest move, but he had needed a challenge for his mind.

The low murmur of Daken's voice reached only Ethan's ears. "Get moving, soldier boy. We're on a strict time limit here." He didn't explain what he meant, merely turning down a narrow side corridor. He hadn't forgotten the original purpose they were there for. He'd thought up a a very good idea of what he was going to do to the scientist who had reduced him to the horribly weak state he'd been in. Had he known, Daken was sure Ethan would, to say the least, not approve of them.

Ethan doesn't question why Daken mentions a time limit, this mission was never designed for them to linger and take their time, but perhaps it should concern him just a little. But then again Ethan is trusting that Daken would tell him about such things as triggering the alarm or such like. More fool Ethan huh?

There are soldiers all over the place, which possibly works in their favor as they don't seem quite so out of place, as they cut their way through the building towards the labs, using their stolen swipe cards and identity badges that retrieved with the uniforms. Finally they reach the zone they need to be in, but the door is locked and their swipe cards aren't allowing them access. The little screen flashes at them, the words Ethan doesn't recognize but from the fact that they are red, he's assuming it means no entry. Glancing around Ethan draws his fist back and punches through the panel, pulling the wires out and short-circuiting the system so that the doors slide open with ease. "You didn't see me do that." Ethan lets the remains of the box drop to the floor with a clatter, but whatever he is about to say next is lost in the noise that follows the doors opening.

Of course that's when they get greeted by gunfire and a smoke grenade thrown out into the corridor. Ethan presses flush with the wall, arm held across his face to reduce the impact of the smoke as he tries to estimate the number in the room. "How the hell did they know that we were here?!"

Daken is unapologetic about ducking behind the sturdy form of Ethan when he sees the amount of soldiers in the room. He can heal, but Ethan is bulletproof. Avoiding pain if it was possible seems like a logical choice.

"I have no idea," Daken replied in a bland tone, as if they were discussing why guests had showed up early to a tea party. He was tempted to add a response that it wasn't as if he had fought a group of them while getting the uniforms, but he was certain that would have led directly to his captain strangling him. Before Ethan could answer, the feral had slipped around him and into the room, smoke enveloping him entirely.

The cloud didn't bother him at all. He didn't need eyesight when he could pinpoint each target using his nose and ears. The sounds of gunfire were intermittently broken with a choking gasp that was cut off abruptly as claws were plunged into their neck, head, or chest. Daken was in his element and relishing the entire experience. He couldn't hide the sociopathic grin that spread across his face, one composed of pure and unbridled joy.

Ethan has no issues with being used as a shield, it seems like a perfectly logical thing to do and anyway, he really didn't want to have to deal with an injured Daken, no matter how temporary the injury might be. Whilst Daken used his mutation to his advantage in the smoke, Ethan did similar with his own. Unable to be harmed by bullets he was able to enter the room and systematically seek out any of the soldiers that were on the other side of the room, yet to be dealt with by Daken.

By the time the smoke has cleared the room is littered with bodies, Ethan swipes at a splatter of blood on his cheek but it doesn't achieve much more than leaving a bright pink smear. "A change in tactics is required, we'll get the scientist, destroy anything we can and take him with us for interrogation."

And by interrogation Ethan means, letting Daken go a little claw happy on the asshole. Taking guns and anything else that they can use off of the fallen soldiers, Ethan crosses to the next set of doors which will lead them into the labs, punching through the keypad and into the wall before yanking out the wires, so much for using Bradley's codes.
