St. John’s test results had come back after a few hours and Hope ran them again just to make sure there wasn’t an error in her machines. Of course there wasn’t. The second results were the same as the first and it made her wonder. While the white blood cell count was slightly elevated it wasn’t anything that screamed to her obvious infection. It

But then her powers started messing up. A flick that would normally push the metal door handle became a conscious push, trying to lift anything was a battle of wills, pushing herself through the air was completely impossible. Sometimes she couldn't even feel the magnetic energy in the air, leaving her feeling cut off and sidelined. She didn't enjoy it at all.
Logic finally won out against stubbornness and Lorna ventured to the medical area, looking for a doctor. She was led to a small bed, asked to sit and wait, the doctor would be there shortly. Feeling just a little vulnerable, Lorna ended up staring at the ground, curling her green hair around her finger while she waited.

"What seems to be the problem today?" she asked with a reassuring smile. Most people on base were afraid of doctors. Hope did her best to be non-threatening.

Ill enough to go to a hospital at least.
"Um, well, it started off as just being like a flu bug or something, headaches, dizzy spells, some sickness. I ah, I got some muscle aches in my legs and arms, but I figured that's just weather change right? Anyway," she's aware that she may be babbling, but some things are just a little too out there, "I seem to have, well, my powers. I sort of can't use them. Mostly. They come and go, and right now, well, they're gone." And frankly, she didn't think the flu did that.

And not what Hope had been expecting at all. Flue sympthoms that led to a loss of mutant ability? That meant something was acting on the woman's genetic code itself. That was unheard of. Until now that was.
"Well, I'm going to admit you here and draw some blood for a few tests," she said, "After a quick examine. Do you still feel like you have the flu or did that disappear?"

"The dizziness stopped yesterday, it only lasted a while. It was like a constant case of headrush. And I haven't been sick for a few hours. But I still feel that hot sort of way, you know when you feel like your burning up but your not?" And really, it was never that hot in Washington.
"I don't feel sore as much anymore though."

She nodded as she listened. The flu symptoms were fading, but her powers were gone. There was a time line then. She got a thermometer out and offered it to her.
"Let's just see what temperature do you have, hm?"

"This isn't going to be public knowledge, is it?" Speaking around the device, Lorna just stared at Hope. She was a little worried about what would happen if people found out she was powerless. Not so much being under threat. It wasn't like she had a price on her head or anything, but she could be sent away.
They could toss her out, or just declare her defective. Not that she thought Emma would. But it wasn't like she was useful without her powers.

Only the three of them had clearance for the medical records of the mutant members of the team. If Hope had her way, she would be the only person with access but she rarely got her way on anything in camp.
"Unless whatever illness you have is highly contagious, I don't see a reason to report this just yet." She took the thermometer when it beeped and read the results. "I wouldn't worry too much right now."
Reply
"How will you know if I'm contagious?" Waiting to see if she'd accidentally infected other people and thus caused them to lose their powers, well, Lorna wasn't looking to do that. "I had breakfast in the mess, most of the others were around. We live in the same building with each other."
It was like high school. If one class mate got the flu, everyone got the flu. Only this time, mutants lost their powers. "How can you not know what does this?" Lorna wasn't ready to believe she was the first person to deal with this.

And that would throw the camp into chaos. It was not going to be pretty if this was an outbreak of some unknown contagion. Hope got the kit for drawing blood down from a shelf.
"I need your arm, please," she said. "Because I haven't run tests yet. To run tests, I need to draw some blood."
Reply
"God," offering out her preferred arm, Lorna stared at the ceiling. She didn't exactly love needles, she could deal but she didn't plan on watching the doctor draw blood. "I can't believe this is happening."
She'd see if Emma would visit, if she was being admitted, surely Emma would hear and come visit her, just to check up. Or Lorna could call her, would Emma still hear her if- well, of course she would. Emma's powers would work fine. It was Lorna's that were buggered.

She found a vein and slid the needle in with ease, then started filling up a vial. "I'm going to start you on a basic, wide range antibiotic to see if that helps. Curing the flu you had first is most likely key to removing the block on your powers."
Once she had two vials of blood, she pressed a few cotton balls to the needle sight and bent the woman's arm up. "Hold it like that for a few minutes. I'm going to get you some juice."

She's not sure if it'll work, if Emma even listens all the time. But it's worth a shot.
"You think that'll work?" Asking out loud, Lorna can really only hope that it's the flu causing the block, "The antibiotics I mean." Holding her arm in place, Lorna feels like she's ten again, and the doctors are talking about taking her tonsils to stop her throat infections. She's just worried that they won't know what's causing her power failure.

She got a juice box from the little fridge near by and held it out to her. "If you'd like, I can have someone retrieve a book or something from your room so you're not completely bored."
