In your old rooms, fixing your water [ota]

With the walls completely constructed, the dry wall up and the floors down, the second building was just about finished as far as repairs were going. Mac had been called in to set up the second floor plumbing and rewire the electrics. Not that it was overly hard; everything was already fitted, the wiring was simple connect the ends and the plumbing ( Read more... )

Flicking more ash, Mac smirked slightly at the military comment, "True enough, but when I'm in uniform, best not mention my colleagues and their asses, kay?" Mac didn't mind people having opinions. She knew that a lot of the team thought Ethan was a stiff, thought he was a rule-sticking, pain in the ass, stiff. And to an extent, he could be. And Jen was straighter laced than anything Mac had ever known. But that was how the girl rolled and Mac had respect for her achievement.

But she wasn't about to pull someone up on their own beliefs because Mac still believed in freedom of speech.

"What? Little paffs? That's what you call them, right?" Raising her hand without the cigarette, Mac made a motion with her fingers to indicate Jubilee's little fireworks. "I have access to everyone's files," although not really, technically allowed, "notations are a wonderful," such as a few little quotes here and there from interviews or the likes that may have happened. "It's mostly just so Sykes can throw the problem children my way."

Like Pyro; when he'd first rolled onto the base with his prickly nature, defensive attitude and sarcasm, he'd become something of Mac's problem in trying to get him to at least chill out. Somewhere along the line, Ethan seemed to think Mac was the guidance counsellor of the camp.

"Yes, ma'am." Jubilee replied with a sarcastic salute, making it perfectly clear that she wasn't the type to censor her opinions just because of what clothes people wore. And boy, would they have it when they tried to tell Jubilee she's not allowed to wear her street clothes. She'd spend time in the brig if it meant she got to keep her colors and unique style.

Leering at Mac suspiciously until she explained about the file, Jubilee's fingers twitched and she nodded. "Who exactly are you, anyway? You don't look like a military drone."

"Oh shit, I forget sometimes. I'm Mac, or Sargent Richards. But fuck knows I hate being called that." For Mac, it was a lot like not conforming completely. She loved her job, loved the Military, hated a lot of the rules. She wasn't a rule follower, she had a little bit of a rebel spirit left and for the most part, they left her alone to do her job because she didn't flaunt that rebellion.

"I'm sort of like the camp maintainer. Plumbing, electrics, amenities, vehicles. I keep shit running. And if you need shit fixed, I'm the one they call. At all hours. So, y'know. Hi." She wasn't half as formal as Ethan or Jen.

There seemed to be two sides to them. Ethan and Jen were the serious no-nonsense types, Mac and Jesse were the relaxed, 'well don't get caught' types.

"Mac, huh? I'd introduce myself but y'kinda know who I am already." Jubilee quipped dryly, finally deciding to slide down the wall and sit her ass down. As far as military personnel went, Mac was pretty cool in her book. And the fact that she could fix this place - which meant not being crammed into one building with the entire team - was a bonus.

"I'd help, but I don't know anything about this stuff." Which was true. She'd grown up spoiled until her parents died, and after that she'd run from place to place as she wanted/needed to. She'd never been stationary long enough to have to learn how to fix things.

It seemed to be the standing in camp that Mac was the loosened up Military personnel. Of course, it wasn't really hard to figure it out. "Ah, that sort of makes the introductions hard. In my defence, it's all about knowing the troops." Although really, she mostly had to do it anyway for the sole reason that when Ethan did do it he didn't bother actually getting to know the people.

"Don't fret, I've only got three more down here and then four upstairs. Shouldn't take too much longer." Which she was hoping was the truth, if she could get through the rooms without much more hassle. "I take it you're feeling the lack in things to do, huh?"
