Vanessa smiled as the vehicle stopped and nodded at the two soldiers who had brought her here.
"Thank you, guys."
They had been more than reluctant to pick her up and overly cautious, too. It had been a good choice to meet them in her more human-looking form, with normal skin tone and brown hair, instead of her usual appearance. No need to make this any harder for him than it had to be. Apparently the red eyes had been enough to unsettle them, but they knew she was a mutant and she very much doubted that they had no idea what she could do. Even though she had signed up for this and wasn't their prisoner, they had to know what she was capable of.
Her attempts to lighten the mood by getting them to stop at any fast food restaurant, her treat, had been declined and so she had sat back with a shrug, put her sunglasses back on and went over her to-do list in her head. As far as she knew she had done everything she wanted to do before leaving, she had prepared her contacts for a longer absence. After all she didn't know how long she would stay exactly, her reaction to the news of the existence of this team had been rather impulsive and she had been surprised when her application had been accepted.
The vehicle drove off before her door was shut properly and she chuckled. Those two really hadn't warmed to her at all.
