The request had been utterly unusual. She wasn't even sure at the time if she wanted to take it. She'd been considering turning it down since the first meeting; she had turned it down to being with. Asshole soldiers didn't have a clue what they were talking about and if she was going to have to put up with that bullshit from them, she'd do more than freeze them next time.
But the more she'd thought about it, the more it made sense. She wasn't leaving anything behind, she wasn't looking to rebuild anything where she was. She wanted the pain of that place to leave her and this could be the only way to do it. She'd had her psyche eval, she'd bullshitted through the whole thing. And if they'd known they hadn't said a word about it.
Which brought her there, with one bag over her shoulder, a completely new life, without anything to drag her back to where she had been. Nothing beyond a name anyway. This was going to be interesting. She walked from her drop off by the main gate, getting the directions to the main camp and being told that it would be a while before one of the people in charge got to her, due to a bit of drama around the place.
Alice couldn't care less, she'd see them whenever. Until then, she'd just scope the place out and find her room. Easy.
