"Dude, are these cuffs really necessary?" Jubilee whined for the fifth time in what she could only judge as having been an hour, shifting in her seat uncomfortably and looking from soldier to soldier. Yet again, her question had gone unanswered and she was really getting tired of the silent treatment

But things were painfully slow and there was only so much you could do before you really just needed to take a break. Glancing at the cars that pulled up, and then the female that was left in the wake of the soldiers, Rogue automatically runs through possibilities. Volunteer or persuaded. More often than not, they seem to be folks that have been signed up under questionable persuasive methods.
In answer to the voiced comment, Rogue just turns and faces her, "Y' should'a seen it last week. We'd'a given them folks on demolition derby a run f'r their money."

"Looks like they hired the Hulk to redecorate the place. Or someone just decided that bullet holes an' mortar were totally military-chic this year."
A pause.
"Cool hair."

"Y' ain't too far off, sugah. Couple o' folks blazed through, reckoned we could do with a little grunge thrown in." Looking around, Rogue shrugged again, "This really is it lookin' better."
At the start, everything actually looked great -it was a newly constructed base, just for them. Now it was a bit of a wreck. "Ah'm Rogue. Too bad y' had t' fall into this place jus' now though."

"I think the place needs some color or somethin'. Or like, a mall."
Oh, God, what she wouldn't give for a mall right about now. Or her roller skates. Or both.
Jubilee tilted her head at Rogue's last comment, but shrugged it off and stuffed her hands in the pockets of her yellow trenchcoat. "I'm Jubilee. So, did I miss a freakin' party or what?"

"Jus' a routine battle, y'know. Attacked in the night." Apparently that had been taken care of though, and the security in the building was getting updated like crazy. "Y' gonna get put through y' paces keepin' up with the training here out."
Usually, things had been rather laid back. But then, that was before they'd been slapped in the face with their own lack of preparation. Now, they'd probably all be pushed to their limits.

Shoulders slumping, she sighed and glanced up at Rogue curiously.
"You been here awhile?"

Not to mention the leaders of the camp constantly fighting. It really wasn't anything that Rogue would call 'organised'.
"Yeah, good couple 'a months." She'd arrived in Africa over a year ago, but spent a few months away from the camp helping her mother. "There's a few been here longer."

Mostly because Jubilee wanted to know how they got the hell out of this place. Seriously, she wasn't planning to stay long. Especially when she found out that the Wolverine in this reality wasn't even her Wolvie. That would break her heart.
But for now, she'd just have to be angry and bored. "So, like, what's there t'do in this dump, anyway?"

"If y'r here cause the Government gone and got somethin' on ya, Ah'm sorry darlin', but y'r here for the long haul. Ain't no way y'r shaking that. 'less y' talk t' Bradley or Mac, an' get that shit 'missin' somehow on them computers and stuff." Rogue had to just shrug. Initially, she'd been escaping her mother, after making up with her mother a while ago, she only stayed to make sure Rictor and Mark were okay.
Being on the team was just a fill in between her gig on the Brotherhood anyway.
"Well, right now, repairs. After that, trainin', workin' out. Mostly not a lot." She spent most of her time keeping Ric out of trouble.

Sighing heavily, she rubbed a hand over her face and adjusted her bag on her shoulder. There was only so much of this she could take before the place was going to have a fireworks show grander than the Fourth of July.
"I think I need t'lay down."
