9 days.

That's the first thing she realized when she awoke screaming. She'd been out cold for over a week. And, as if that wasn't enough, she was unable to remember any outright use of her powers while she'd been in the camp. But, if the feeling in the pit of her stomach was any indication? It was far from good. The last time anything like this had happened, the small town where her grandparents lived was nearly destroyed.

Judging by the wires and IVs sticking out of her and the slight sensation of cold? Something big had gone down. None of her patches or IVs had melted or burnt, the sheets below her hands were undistirbed and - most notably - there was no thrumming or tingling energy in her arms. A quick glance at the chart beside her cot revealed that her body temperature at last check was a mere 101.8 degrees. She was completely tapped out.

Deep breaths, Haylie. In and out. In and out.

Squeezing her eyes shut, Haylie tried to force her memory into a state of instant reply. Sifting between the planted images due to her subconscious and the fuzzy flashes of action, all she could make out were pieces. A man snapping at her. A fallen tree. Flying back. He's pushing through to get to her. He's so close. "Get away from me!

It stops. The trail goes cold and as she opens her eyes, the disappointment settles in. Defeated for now, she tries to sit up because she's starving and she needs food to build her strength back. But as soon as she sat up, she was flat on her back in no time.

...Apparently? Her body had other plans.
