what a headache [open]

Nov 19, 2010 22:32

Usually, Emma woke up almost instantaneously; the simple act of sleep to wakefulness coming like a click of the fingers. It was odd then, that morning, waking slowly and groggy and feeling utterly disorientated. And then she realised it wasn't morning, and she wasn't in her own bed on the compound. The headache told her this wasn't just another day, and then her memory clicked back to the cell with Daken. Shit.

Sliding from the bed, still dressed in the attire she wore to the cells, Emma tried to catch some kind of indicator as to what day it was and just how long she'd spent in the medical centre. The throb of psychic energy stopped her and Emma threw up her shields, closing herself off to everything. Shakily, she made her way through the halls, looking for the exit in a bid to at least make it to her office. Tea, tea would make it better. Tea and some peace and quiet and then she could yell at Sykes and then she could ignore the world some more and by then the pain should be gone.

It stunned her just how intricate the details of Daken's shields had to be, to leave this much agony from a simple probe meant the traps were highly sophisticated and Emma swore off trying that again in a hurry. The memories in there weren't the issue, it was the energy protecting the memories. Groaning at the slight vertigo that assaulted her senses, Emma leant against the wall of the Medical Centre before pushing off carefully and making the trek across the grounds towards the offices.
