Sensing A Change In The Air... (OTA)

Victor watched, curious, as he watched Stryker leaving the camp, his jeep disappearing from the front gate in a small cloud of dust. It wasn't like the Major to leave his team for any reason; the feral was well aware of Stryker's need to keep his precious mutants under his watchful eye at all times, and it didn't seem to fit that he'd be leaving ( Read more... )

Another day, another morning of training his team. They were getting better. Not good, but better. It was a start. When they were done, and after he'd eaten, Logan had decided to take a shower - well, it'd been a while - then headed outside out of habit, to get some fresh air and smoke. Except that he had nothing left to smoke. The trace of irritation he felt at that - even if he couldn't physically get addicted, he liked the smell of his cigars, liked going through the motions - faded when he noticed Victor. As far as old, comforting habits went, his brother's company counted as another.

Slowly walking towards Victor, his hair still wet, Logan noticed the attention his brother was giving to a jeep that soon disappeared out of sight. He tried to figure out why Victor would give a shit about some jeep, tried to catch a scent. His eyes were still on the cloud of dust the vehicle had disappeared into when he came to a halt next to Victor, one hand in his pocket, on the lighter he wasn't going to use. "Stryker?"

"Got it in one." Victor nodded, his eyes still fixed on the cloud of dust disappearing into the distance. "Looks like he's takin' some kinda holiday or somethin' Jimmy. An' y'know what that means."

There was the hint of a smile on the feral's face as he allowed the opportunities to run through his mind. There were many, many things which he could do without Stryker there to hold him back - a lot of things which Logan would not approve of.

((OOC: Shut up. And major epic delayed tag is delayed, oops.))

Well, damn... Logan hated Stryker as much as the next guy, but with the amounts of tension in camp, there were certain benefits to having a big bad boss, trying to keep things from exploding. And 'things', in this case, definitely included Victor.

"Doesn't change anythin'," Logan commented, giving Victor a look that was half warning, half skeptical. "If he's outta here for a while, he ain't just left us to it." Typical that Victor's first thought would be to take advantage of Stryker's absence... As for Logan, he mostly wondered why Stryker had left without saying anything. That couldn't be good.

Victor had known that Logan would disapprove of his schemes - just as he knew his brother would already have guessed the kind of things he had in mind. He returned Logan's warning glance with a toothy grin, not having any intention of listening to his words of advice.

"I don't give a shit if he's gone for a month or if he's just headin' out for a paper, bro. Fact is, that son-of-a-bitch has been givin' us shit ever since arrived here, an' now's our chance t'show him who's really in charge. Or did y'forget the times he had me locked up an' almost got my kid killed, huh?"

After a job around the camp the other mercenary on the team had decided to call it a day. There was only so much running in circles like a mouse on one of those little wheels the woman could take before it became repetitive. One more lap and the woman was quite sure she'd have started yelling at someone for not expanding the fence back further for them ( ... )

Victor caught Alyssa's scent as she moved through the camp a short distance away from him, and he turned to look at her, a wicked glint already in his eyes. Stryker was one of the few people who could hold the feral's urges in check, and with the Major gone, Victor would take that as a green light to treat the camp as his own personal playground - and here was a shiny new toy. Well, not quite new, but as yet untouched by him.

"Where you goin', darlin'...?"

"Someplace you can't," the woman called back in a chiding fashion. Her cast was gone, thankfully, though the bandage was till wrapped around her leg leaving the only sign of the previously mentioned trip. Most of the cuts and scrapes were gone as well though even if it had been an eye-opening, trip, still nice to get away. Lys glanced over her shoulder towards Creed only stopping long enough to pop the top of her water bottle. Honestly it was the first time she had truthfully spoken to him though she had heard everything she needed from others about.

"What, the ladies' restroom?" he snickered, already moving towards her, curious to learn more about this female. The more he learned about her, the more control he could have over her. "Nice try. That ain't stopped me before."

He took a moment to study her appearance, and he had to admit he liked what he saw. She was far smaller than he was - as were most women - but also seemed to be quite lithe and athletic in her build, not to mention being rather pretty. Unfortunately for Alyssa, being pretty translated for Victor as 'next target'.

The large feral growled as the smaller man walked right into him, glancing down and sneering at the mini-Rictor who seemed to have taken some kind of interest in him. He must have been some kind of masochist.

"Fuck that son-of-a-bitch, don'tcha think you should watch out where you're goin' first?" he hissed, not even attempting any polite conversation. "Get the hell outta here before I turn ya into a new scratchin' post."

"Fuck off," he growled, trying to ignore the younger man as he turned back to watch the cloud of dust disappearing away from the compound. He was already considering the various ways in which he could make a bid for power, and having this little shit distracting him really wasn't helping. "Ain't you got some Barbara Streisand to go listen to or somethin'?"

Risque was leaned against the building a cigarette in hand. She'd seen the jeep rolling out the gate but she was sure it was some kind of test or something. No way someone as crazy as Stryker would leave this group. She sighed wondering just how things were going to go down now.

Victor spotted his current 'mate' leaning against the wall and wandered over to her, reaching out to run his claws over her cheek as he towered over her. He took up a position beside her, lounging against the building as well as making sure some of his flesh touched her own.

"What's up, sugar?"

She gave him a little nudge with her hip. "Just enjoying a smoke big man. What's up with you?"

Gloria reached out trailing her fingers across his stomach.

"Oh, nothin'. Just enjoyin' the view." His gaze had moved on now from the rear of Stryker's jeep to a different kind of rear altogether - not to mention a chest, a midriff, and a shapely pair of legs. He smirked and purred as she touched at him, an eager growl from deep within his throat. "So, whaddaya reckon, darlin'? Now that Major Headache seems to be goin', how's about we really let loose an' plan some kinda party?"

Betsy had been stalking Stryker most of the morning. She woke up to the twittering of bits and pieces of dozens of thoughts and conversations. Sifting through them, she found what all the noise was about. Stryker was leaving.

This she had to see.

As that cloud of dust slowly disappeared, Betsy emerged from the shadows with a little smirk. Oh, this would be good.

Victor didn't miss Betsy's appearance as Stryker disappeared from the compound in a small cloud of dust. He still had unfinished business with the telepath, and now was as good a time as any to start thinking about when to make his move. He already knew from his experiences with Emma that trying to outwit a 'path was never an easy thing to do.

"You turned up for the show too, huh?" he muttered, glancing over at her.

Betsy glanced back with a smirk. "Miss the event of the season? Not on your life." Her gears were already turning with ideas in Stryker's absence. "Any idea how long he'll be gone?"

"You tell me, Little Miss Headfuck." He still wasn't exactly happy about Betsy being the most experienced telepath on the team now. Sure, there was still Cassie, but the young blonde hadn't fully grasped control of her powers yet. It was at times like this that he missed Emma more than ever. Biting back a snarl at the memory of his lover, he glared at Betsy and bared his fangs in her direction. "An' what's it t'you, anyways?"
