Some people were happy drunks. Some were mean drunks. Some did nothing but pass out on the living room floor buck-naked. Jack was none of the above. He, unfortunately, was a sad drunk. He had been moody and irritable since coming to Japan. It brought back the unwanted memories of losing his eye, for it had occurred in this very country; the action that had led him to stop hunting in the first place. And he had been placed in charge of a group of mutants, something that still irked him. Leadership skills he may have possessed, but he wasn't about to put them to use to train a group that he hated above all others.

That, combined with the recent drama he had been going through with a certain purple-haired telepath had led him to dig up the bottles of whiskey he had saved for just such an occasion. So now he sat in the Mess Hall, one empty bottle later, and another still before him. It was late at night, and it seemed most of the activity of the day had quieted down. He took a small photo out of his wallet, staring at it with sad eyes. "God I miss you," he whispered softly.
