Nicky had heard the music and couldn't help but make his way toward it. Razi went bounding into the room before Nicky even touched the door. Both boy and dog had been bored and trying to keep away from their room so Jason could rest. "Hey Jack."

It would be obvious that Nicky wasn't himself. There wasn't even an effort to smile and his shoulders were down.

Jack saw the dog before the boy. Razi came wriggling over, nose sniffing, tail waggling back and forth. He leaned over, giving the dog a pat on the head. Nicky followed soon after.

"Hey kiddo." Jack smiled just a little and pointed to a spot on couch. "Have a seat." He could tell something was wrong with Nicky, but Jack decided to wait and see if he wanted to talk about it.

Nicky dropped down next to him, Razi jumping up to snuggle between the two. He looked at the tv before turning to look at Jack a baffled look on his face. "What's that?"

He'd never seen anything like it before given his limited tv viewing before.

It seemed like he had been getting asked that question asked a lot today. Poor deprived creatures. Jack wondered why the hell a little thing called 'culture' hadn't been included when brainwashing all these mutants into weapons.

Jack absentmindedly pet Razi as he answered. "It's called The Wizard of Oz. Kind of an American classic."

"There's a witch right? Jason said one of the scientists at the lab acted like the Wicked Witch of the West. He tried to explain it but he didn't have enough time,"he looked over at Jack.

Jack nodded. He wondered exactly what had happened to those scientists that had worked in those labs. If he ever did find out, the hunter might just casually mention to Victor where they were. If Victor ever got out of his little cell, that was.

"Two. A good witch and a bad witch. The bad one is green."

He nodded leaning back against the seat to watch the movie. Nicky thought it looked weird but then he thought most tv was weird. He figured it was because he'd never really gotten to watch it.

"What color is the good one?"

Jack settled back into the couch, removing the remote from where Razi had laid down on it. He didn't want to have the animal shift its position and change the channel. Jack patiently answered another question.

"Normal looking, but very sparkly. Travels around in a bubble."

He shifted a little subtly leaning against Razi and Jack. He couldn't help one more question. "Was somebody on drugs when they created this?"

That actually made Jack laugh. It really was a valid question, and certainly was a valid explanation, what with the day-glo colors and catchy, get stuck in your head songs. Plus, the poppies were obvious a metaphor for something else.

"Surprisingly, no. Remind me to tell you later about the Dark Side of the Rainbow."

"I will Jack,"he settled in with them to watch the movie. He was smiling a little bit now. He was still not himself but it was nice just relaxing there with Jack.

Jack eventually noticed as the boy began to move closer and eventually lean up against him. He stiffened up for a moment or two, but then figured what the hell. He went back to watching the movie, a small smile on his face.

"Everything is kind of crazy Jack,"he sighed a little. He wanted to talk to someone about what was going on. He just couldn't decide who.

And now he came to it. Jack looked at the boy with a cool glance. Victor's incarceration would have had an obvious affect on him, and with his mother figure (Jack thought that last part with disgust) caught up in the whole debacle, Nicky really had no one to turn to. "You wanna talk about it?"

"He's locked up and she got mad enough to really hurt him before he was locked up. Uncle Jimmy broke up with Dom to see Jean even though she's not a good person," he sighed,"Everything changed so fast."

Jack shook his head. It was like listening to the plot of As The World Turns, or somehing straight out of high school. He hated always hated soap operas. "It's complicated, but what it boils down to is that adults are fucking stupid."
