Bang Bang I used to shoot you down - OTA

John was out at the outdoor shooting range, the sheltered range area was damp but thankfully devoid of snow and a little warmer than the uncovered range point had been. Toying with the Taurus Millennium Handgun John had already inspected the handgun for any barrel obstructions, dirt and debris before loading the ammunition ( Read more... )

The sound of gunshots automatically made Mortimer think of Agent Zero. The bloke had been okay, but Freddy had been right in saying Zero was a bit of a robot sometimes.

Walking towards the sound, he was looking aside as he spoke.

"Wanking off to another semi-automatic, Zero?"

Once the words were spoken, he was looking right at someone very... not Zero.

"Aw, piss."

John paused in reloading his gun and smiled a little at her person who had been mid-insult at Zero, hat tilted across his face as he had been focused down on the weapon.

"He's probably jerkin' off over some gun or a gun magazine back in his tent."

Finishing loading the bullets John flicked the safety on and set the gun down turning to address the new individual.

"John Wraith, an' you might be?"

Mortimer had once been sent a photograph by Fred via email. In it was the man he saw before him. John Wraith, Fred's best friend.

"Aww, Freddy ain't told you about me? I'm hurt." He smirked, showing off his gummy teeth.

"Name's Mortimer Toynbee. Or you can just call me Toad. Most people do. Even though Fred just always calls me Mort."

"Mort huh?" John took a moment and then it dawned on him, this was the person who Fred literally raved on about. He was up there with cakes, twinkie bars and John's cooking on the scale of things adored. The friend who was living back in America and seemed to care about the big guy just as much as John did.

The polite smile turned into a fully fledged grin and John held out his hand, stepping closer.

"Pleasure to mee you Mortimer! Fred may have mentioned you a few times but he never said you were meant to be joinin' us out here! It's great to meet you though buddy."

Bradley was outside again, listening to the crack of a gun on the artillery range. He wondered which one of his teammates had gone trigger happy. Once again, his innate curiosity wouldn't let him be, and he headed over to the range, relaxing when he saw the familiar cowboy hat.

"Taking a note out of Zero's book, now, are we?"

John finished the clip in the gun before setting the weapon down and grabbing an empty cold shell flicking it at Bradley.

"Reckon I've got more style an' class than Zero thank you very much." Tapping the edge of his hat John smiled at Bradley before picking up another gun, an automatic this time checking it over slowly.

"You here to cause mischief or to insult my fashion sense gadget boy?"

Bradley easily dodged the shell, at this point used to objects occasionally being flung his way by John and Fred.

He ambled over, knowing he could relax around his friend. "Oh, insult the fashion sense, most definitely cowboy. You just set yourself up for it by wearing that get-up."

"Yeah yeah you're just jealous you can't carry off this hat like I know I can. Maybe if you're really lucky I'll let you borrow my hat one day an' you can play at being the Sheriff." John hadn't managed to catch up with Bradley in a while so it was nice to see his friend around.

"You know you probably could do with some practice with a gun, it's been a while since I seen you do any real work techie." Gesturing to the selection of weapons laid out John smiled a little but kept his voice neutral. "That's if you remember how to fire a gun I mean. I'd just hate to show you up geek."

Being that he enjoyed a good shoot himself, Zero had gone to the range to partake in a nice 'relaxing', shoot. He was a little surprised to find John there. But not at all unhappy.

He waited until his round was out before approaching and coming to stand beside him. "Admiring the gun, John?"

John wasn't surprised to see Zero here, if anything he was surprised he hadn't seen him sooner. He set the weapon down and laughed pikcing up another gun.

"Nahhh just getting some practice in and thought I'd pick u pteh pace and try some different guns out. Not a bad arsenal you've got stocked here either. How you been friend?"

Zero picked up one of the guns from the rack, observing it.

He smirked at John's comment. "I do my best...I've been alright. And yourself?"

"Not too shabby thanks." John had loaded another gun and was lining himself up with the target. He emptied the clip into the targets and stepped back.

"Just the usual stir crazies startin' to settle in."
