Lets make some music (Ota, nudge to Esme)

Call it a spark of insanity, but Atticus had just about had it. The cold, the isolation, and lack of sleep had finally gotten to him. The star projector Hope had made him helped him sleep on more than one occasion, but for some odd reason his mind couldn't be put at ease enough to let him sleep. He'd read all his books over and over, played all the ( Read more... )

Whatever it was, Esme absolutely adored him for it. She'd been wandering the halls, her guitar strapped to her back and one of her iPods in her hand. Stryker may consider the thing a weapon, but Esme'd be damned if she was only allowed to use it for that. What a jerk ( ... )

Atticus smiled, steadying his playing enough to speak, but not stopping. "Isn't it just marvelous? Sometime I shall have to get ahold of a real one soon. But it's better than nothing."

"It's definitely a change in the typical patterns I see floating around," Esme said as she made her way to a slightly wobbly bar stool. It had no back and was therefor perfect for the winged one to sit on. She let her guitar rest beside her.

"What are you playing?" She asked, just incase this was something new she'd never heard before.

That was right, she could manipulate sound. He smiled. "Just a little something my father used to play for me when I was upset..."

He slowly stopped and inquired. "Have you ever played before?"

Frankly, Hope was having a rather terrible time lately. First there was tending to Jean, then the whole mess with Victor and Dr. Milbury and really it just made for a terrible time. When she was done with her shift she was exhausted emotionally and physically.

When she heard the somewhat tinny notes of an electric piano, she felt a little burst of... hope. Heading towards the recc room, she stopped just to watch Atticus play. He looked happy and she was happy to see it.

He thought he felt a presence in the room but continued to play for a short while before stopping. He glanced over his shoulder and smiled when he saw her. "Not being too loud I hope?"

She somehow managed to work up a smile in return. "No, not at all."

He noticed her tired facade and the effort it took for her to smile. Moving the piano off of his lap he held out a hand, motioning for her to come to him. "You seem drained."

Angelo had been talking with Jessie when he'd first heard the sounds of music. At first he'd thought he was imagining it but then he'd heard it again. He'd mentioned it to Jessie and suggested the two of them go see what was going on. Angelo had risked holding her hand as he led the way.

Atticus remained seated on the couch where he was, continuing to play his piano smoothly and enjoying it's sound. He only hoped he wasn't disturbing anyone else.

Jessie let Angelo pull her toward the music of the piano that was coming from the rec room. They stood in the doorway arm in arm. Inside was a man that she had not been introduced to before, playing an electronic keyboard. The sound was wonderful. Such a relief from the grim silence that usually pervaded in this place.

"Hello," she said quitely, she didn't want to disturb his playing too much.

Atticus looked up from his playing, offering a friendly smile. His fingers continued to move lightly over the keyboard. "Good Afternoon."

Angelo leaned into her side a little. She was far more outgoing with new people than he really was. The music was good though and it was something different in what was normally a very routine existence in the camp.

"It's a good afternoon now. I'm Jessie and this is Angelo. Do you mind if we come in and listen?" She smiled.

Jack could hear some music being played in the rec room. If he was being honest, it sounded wonderful. A stealthy glance showed him Atticus playing an electronic keyboard, and several others listening in. As of late, Jack had been getting glances tossed his way like the Grim Reaper had just walked in the room.

Not wanting that experience again, he stayed outside, ears pressed close, just listening. He'd never admit it, but Atticus had a way with music. If anyone asked, he was merely leaning against the wall to rest himself. After all, he was an injured man.

After the some odd years of playing cat and mouse, Atticus had the ability to always tell when the cat was nearby. He didn't stop playing, but merely glanced over his shoulder towards the door. Seeing nothing he continued on. But he would keep wary.
