Another Hunt Completed *OTA*

Dec 30, 2009 18:27

All in all, it had been a very successful hunt, much better than the fiasco with Evan. Final score was one dead acid-creating mutant, one mutant hunter with burnt clothing and skin, and one hysterical hypnotizing mutant with a concussion. Jack, despite now being burnt (again), was feeling quite happy with this outcome. When he got back to camp, he ( Read more... )

As she was walking to the mess to get some food, Olivia caught sight of Jack, her eyes widening as she stepped up to him. Her concern was immediately stark on her face, despite the fact that he was smiling.

"Jack! Are you alright?" she asked, looking over him, muting her concern a little. It wasn't proper. "Are you get hurt?"

Although he would never show it, the hunter was a little touched by the girl's concern. Deep down, it reminded him of the way Nora used to look at him after he came back from a hard day's work, all those many years ago. He hadn't had someone care about what happened to him in a long time.

"Only a little. You should see the other guy." It might have sounded like a joke, except Jack's tone was too serious. As far as he was concerned, this had been a success, if for no other reason he was still alive.

"That doesn't look like a little. You should go to the medbay...are those burns?" she asked, stepping forward, her gaze raking over his clothes and the exposed skin.

Worry flooded her. She didn't know or understand Jack's reputation like the others did. He'd been kind to her, at least in her opinion, and that was worth it's weight in gold.

"I plan to, and yes they are. Chemical, so they ain't too bad off." This feeling of having someone worry was rather enjoyable. If he let his guard down, he could grow to enjoy this feeling quite a lot.

"Don't worry too much. I've been through a lot worse, and yet here I stand." With a blind eye, clothes with acid-burnt holes in them, and small burns covering his torso. But hey, it was better looking than he had been after many of his hunts, including the last one.

Olivia winced at the idea of having chemical burns. Heat burns were bad enough. She didn't really think to ask how he got them. She was more concerned with the fact that he had gotten hurt. "Don't let me stand in your way, please. Those can't be pleasant."

She looked him over again and glanced down the hall to the med bay. "You really should. They'll have something for you, I'm sure."

Jack nodded, taking a few steps towards the med bay. Almost as an afterthought, he turned back to Olivia. With Jack out of commission, Olivia was going to be down one protector. He needed her alive and with a sound mind, if she was to be used in his plot. She was no good to him if her spirit was broken by another tragedy.

"Stay outta trouble."

Relieved that he wasn't going to argue, that he was actually going to go to the med bay, she turned from him as well. When hs spoke, though, she paused and glanced over her shoulder.

"Oh, if I can help it, I will." she murmured, her smile a little tight as she brushed a few stray curls from her face. "I won't seek it out, trust me." she promised, sighing softly as she nodded. She didn't want any more trouble. She had enough as it was.
