change of look - open

She honest to God hadn't meant to make such a mess. She'd tried to be as careful as possible, and really, that was a struggle for her at the best of times. The peroxide was easy to find, the lemon juice, well, she'd just used some from the fridge, and really, she'd been dying her hair since the seventh grade ( Read more... )

The kitchen honestly looked like someone had lost a fight with a rather angry lemon and... was that shampoo? John had literally appeared from nowhere, facing the counter with his back to Lou and unaware at first that she was there. He'd been hoping to pop in and out the kitchen to grab something to eat before retreating back to his room and finish reading his book that he'd been sent in his christmas parcel.

"What in the name of all things good an' holy happened here?" John turned on his heel to look at Lou. "Hey."

He was more amused than annoyed at the mess, it was no surprise to see that someone had trashed the kitchen just he wasn't quite sure what the person had been trying to cook up.

She shouldn't really be surprised by random people appearing out of no where, but she was. Especially the way he appeared. It was like a blink-and-you'll-miss-it thing. So Lou stared, thankfully with her mouth closed.

"Hey." She wasn't really sure what else to tag on to that or how to explain what really happened. So, she just pointed to her hair. "Hair dye."

It would at least explain the shampoo, and hopefully he wouldn't think she was trying to poison everyone's food.

"Hair dye huh?" John picked up one of the rather squished lemons and place it into the bin. He was a man and therefore not quite so sure how lemons fitted into the whole hair dye thing but he wasn't about to argue.

"I'd ask for the recipe but it just don't look all that appealin' or edible for that matter." John smiled a little at this though. "Need a helpin' hand clearin' up?"

Louisa smiled slightly, "Well, I don't think blonde is your color." She bent down to pick up a few of the lemon halves, scolding herself for making such a mess. "You don't need to, sorry it's such a tip. I didn't realise just what mess I was making."

She was too busy making sure she wasn't going to come out orange. Her luck was usually in the gutter, and doing this without the formula or out of a bottle was a little harder. She'd have been fine coming out with straw hair, she was sure one of the women would have something to help her, but she hadn't considered asking anyone about hair dye.

"I'm usually less messy." Which wasn't close to true.

"It's alright I've seen this place in more of a mess when the others are makin' lunch so this is nothin' really."

John started to help clear up, force of habit more than anything else. Not to mention he really didn't have anything better to do right about now.

"So why you want to go changin' your hair colour?" John studied a lemon before throwing it into the bin. He'd never understood womens fascination with changing their hair colour or things like that. But then who was he to question fashion?

"Just for a change," she said, shrugging one shoulder and grabbing a clothe to clear up the residue peroxide, she didn't want to make anyone sick. "I was a blonde for a few years in college, it worked in L.A but after a while, everyone's blond and you just want a change."

She just spoke while she cleaned -it was a habit. "By the time I moved home to D.C, I hated it. So I went brunette." She smiled at John then with another shrug. "I figure I'll give it another try out here."
