Tournament: Round One

Nov 08, 2009 11:49

It was Zero's job to clear out the weapons hanger for the tournament. While it seemed like the most improper place for such a thing, where they were, it actually was perfect. The building was larger than any room in the dormitories and it had the most wide open space. All that needed to be done was to move the shelves containing weapons on the ( Read more... )

Kat cracked her neck and her knuckles as she stepped into the ring, dressed in her camos and a black tank. Her hair was pulled up into a tight bun. There was no way she was going to give her opponent something else to grab a hold of. Cat-stretching, she glanced over her shoulder at her opponent and she grinned. Well well, if it wasn't one of the two lookers from the garage. Martini.

"Hey...don't I know you? Didn't spend the money all in one place, did you?" she asked, winking at him.

Martini shrugged out of Ric's worn leather jacket, the one he wore everywhere, and tossed it to the side of the ring. He also removed several of his more fragile watches, setting them down with great care. He didn't want them getting broken.

He smirked at Kat. Now that whole garage debacle over over, it seemed rather amusing. "Yeah, amazing how different a person looks with all their clothes on." He was glad he was sparring with someone who wasn't taking this too seriously. After all, it was supposed to be a fun boredom buster, not a scene out of Gladiator.

Kat watched him get ready, her eyes moving over him with approval as he stripped out of the coat and then peeled off the watches. He really was too pretty.

Grinning, she nodded. "I think I prefer you in your boxers." she laughed, wrapping tape over her knuckles. "But then, we can't always get what we want." She finished with the tape and tossed it to the side before she stepped into the ring.

Martini smirked, giving her a wink. "Well, that can be arranged later, if you'd like." Ric would have smacked him over the back of the head for that one, but he was about to get up close and physical with a pretty brunette

He stepped into the ring and cracked his neck from side to side, bouncing lightly back and forth on the balls on his feet. He gave a mock bow and gestured towards Kat. "Ladies first." He may have been a bit crazy at time, but he wasn't stupid. He wanted to see her fighting technique, get a grasp of what he was going up against.

Kat laughed, tilting her head. Touche. "I'll have to take you up on that, Martini." she murmured, watching him walk into the ring with a grin.

She shifted on the balls of her feet and as soon as he bid her to start she did, launching herself towards him with a kick towards his side, her fist punching down quickly towards his chest.

It wouldn't take long to figure out that she was a military fighter. Quick, precise, and hard.

Well, this little kitty didn't waste anytime, that was for sure. He was taken aback by the sudden attack, but quickly sidestepped to avoid the kick. He was unable to avoid the punch to the chest, and staggered back from the force of the blow.

The fairer sex, my ass Martini thought as he regained his breath. She was fast and swift. He wasn't such a deliberate fighter, and much more used to using such tactics as subterfuge. He staggered forward, arms curled up towards his chest, pretending the injury had caused more damage than it had. Kat approached closer, eager for another blow.

Martini's hands curled into fists, and he struck out quickly at her shoulder and elbow, hoping to strike one of the joints. That would leave her sore at worst, or with a numb joint at best.

Kat grinned as she fought. She couldn't help it. She loved fighting. Maybe it was because she never got the chance to do it. She was almost always phased in a fight, only rendering the parts of herself needed for hitting tangible. She smirked as her hit connected with his chest. She moved close, that grin still on her face, and she felt his fist connect with her shoulder, her elbow moving just in time.

Grimacing at the shock of the hit, she aimed for his kidney with another punch now that they were in closer, her knee raising to try to catch him in the side.

Martini was caught off guard by Kat's quick punch and the kick to his side, and ended up flat on his back. He quickly rose back to his feet before she could strike again. Despite the pain, he flipped a quick smile right back at her. This was certainly better than wandering around aimlessly with nothing else to do on a random afternoon. He took a moment to back up slowly as he planned his next move, saying cheerfully, "After this, we should get some ice cream."

He then rammed himself into Kat, hoping to use his height and weight to try to tackle her into the ground like a linebacker.

Kat chuckled softly down at Martini as he fell down, feeling satisfied that she'd been able to knock him down. It was exhilarating, and frankly she didn't really aim to hurt him. She didn't even particularly care about winning. "Ice cream? In this weather?" she laughed.

She watched him get up and back up, raising an eyebrow. As he started to run towards her, reflex begged to kick in. She hadn't expected him to tackle her, and where she'd normally just phase through someone who did that, she couldn't.

So her reaction was to be bowled over and down, hitting the ground hard with Martini atop her. "Oof!"

Were Kat a guy, Martini might have punched her a little. But it just seemed too mean to do that to a woman, even one who was managing to kick the crap out of him just fine. Instead, he just grabbed her wrists to keep her from beating him up further. He was laughing a little now.

"Well, hot fudge can be added to tak the bite off. Besides, cookies and milk sounds too much like a consolation prize. Ice cream always tastes like victory, whether you win or lose."

Her wrists pinned, Kat chuckled and debated headbutting him. It would hurt her, though, and mess up that pretty face. Winning wasn't worth breaking his nose, no matter the reputation it'd give her in the barracks.

"Hot fudge sounds good...and yeah, it really does. Never been one for milk and cookies." She laughed and then smirked up at him, wrapping her legs around his waist as she levered her weight to roll them, trying to pin him instead.

What the-? Martini suddenly found himself flipped over onto his back and looking up at Kat. After his head cleared, he raised an eyebrow up at her. She was now the one control. Martini tried hard to think how this reminded him of what Ric and he had been up to the night before.

"What a clever kitty. Very clever. So is this where your master plan ends, me pinned beneath you? If only we had a pair of handcuffs, then we'd be getting somewhere."

Kat grinned down at Martini, her wrists still in his hands as she shifted her weight atop him and as soon as he spoke her grin turned into a mock-glare.

"Never call me Kitty." she warned before chuckling, shaking her head. "You wish. Does that mean you give up? Or are you holding out for the handcuffs still?"

"Oh, I never give up. I do want to win, as much fun as I'm having." His hands were too well pinned to be of any use to him. But as Kat shifted her weight, he had an inkling of an idea.

He craned his head upward, lowering his voice so she would be forced to lean in to catch his words. "Hey, Kat. Can you land on your feet?" Her curiosity seemed to have gotten the better of her. As soon as the pressure was off his legs, he kicked out with them, sending Kat flying over his head. She landed just outside of the ring. Martini stood up, dusting his hands off. "Guess not."

"So no handcuffs, eh?" she asked, chuckling. She didn't intend on letting him win.

She couldn't help but lean in as he spoke, narrowing her eyes a little. She wanted to hear whatever it was he was saying, that much was true. However, it was a bad move, and she went sailing over his head to land flat on her back outside the ring.

She groaned, reaching up to rub her face as she caught her breath and then smacked the ground. "Son of a bitch!" she laughed, coughing a little.

She'd lost.

"So, um...I won?" Martini looked over to where Zero was with a bit of uncertainty. Zero nodded, looking a bit bored. Or it may have just been his normal expression, Martini wasn't sure.

He made his way over to Kat, offering a hand to help her back to her feet. "Hey, watch that not-so-ladylike mouth of yours. I say we celebrate my victory with two hot fudge sundaes, o worthy adversary. Whaddaya think?" Martini began strapping his watches back on.
