Can cook but can't sleep - OTA (nudge to Fred)
*Retreating to the one place John knew he could get on and do something practical, he now stood in the mess hall prepping several chickens ready for the team to eat. A large mug of coffee was within easy grasp as John yawned, pausing in his work.
He had tried his hardest over the last few days to become accustom to the cold, the change in location, the unpacking and re-organising of his new shared room and the interesting sleeping habits of his roomie Fred. Not that John would ever complain about Fred or any of the people he considered friends but sometimes there were somethings that just simply.... got to him and grated on his nerves.
It was a little known fact (technically only Bradley and Fred knew) that if John were to be woken suddenly from sleep he would teleport himself somewhere within a three mile radius of his original location. It was a inbuilt defense mechanism that all through his life he had tried to overcome. Heck one time he had managed to teleport Bradley and himself from their camp to some random house where they landed in the middle of the kitchen yelling at each other much to the shock of the occupant.
So having settled down and easily fallen asleep on the first night, John a few hours later had found himself landing in a snowdrift outside in the freezing cold (within the boundary that Atticus had set up to protect them as always) because Fred had started yelling in his sleep. It had been a shock to his system and John had quickly teleported back indoors and changed out of his damp and cold clothing and gone back to bed.
By the third time it happened John was prepared and wore more layers to bed.
As well as his shoes.
Now no doubt the move in camps had obviously caused Fred to sleep badly but it wasn't something he felt he could broach easily without hurting his friends feeling. So being the peace keeper that John was he had kept quiet and carried on until he worked out how best to discuss it.*
