I have heard that this is a common practice, but held off on doing it because I believed it might be unethical. The conventional wisdom is that this idea is " No Harm, No Foul", meaning that it can get your foot in the door, but you want to be honest about the fact that you are attempting to relocate if asked. My dad seems to like this idea of using the "friend address' method and doesn't see anything wrong with it because it is simply allowing me to compete with local candidates, and I am not claiming to own the property or that I am the tenant living there, so all that matters is that it causes these companies to put my resume in the "Consider" pile rather then having it tossed because I am not local.
Thoughts?
