Right there with ya, buddy. Only, my parents are long dead. I get it from just about everyone else on the planet. That is why I started putting almost hourly updates on Facebook about my job search... folks act like I am not doing anything.

I have always worked, my whole life. I got my first part-time job 2 weeks after turning 16. I had 2 part time jobs in high school. I started my first full time job 3 days after graduating high school. While I went to college, I had 3 part time jobs that amounted to 36 hours per week...

But now, I am just this lazy bum living off of the kindness of others.

As I once heard someone wise say... "Just because someone thinks you are a Volkswagon... it doesn't MAKE YOU a Volkswagon."

Ok... so, let's say, you and I are having a conversation, and I say something like "You are just being lazy. You would find a job if you just applied yourself". So, you think, "Gee... maybe I AM lazy... maybe I AM not applying myself".

Ok, so, instead of saying that, I say "I think the reason you haven't found a job yet is because you are actually a Volkswagon... you are a little car shaped like a bug." and you think, "Well, that is absolutely silly... of COURSE I am not a Volkswagon... I am not a car, I am a human."

No matter how much I may THINK you are a car, it does not make you into one. You are not a car, you are a human.

You are only lazy, blah, blah, blah... if you are. If you aren't, then no matter what anyone says about you, it is not about you.

In fact, it is probably more about their own projected self doubts and self-hatred than it is about you.

Does that make more sense? :-)

Got it! Thanks! I think I didn't get it at first because I am a VW lover. =0)
