But yes, I do agree with you that a resume will hardly mean something to anyone if that's all they have to judge you on. In other words, you are only a flat, black and white sheet of paper. This has in fact become my biggest problem, since even when I do make face-to-face networking contact, I want to make sure my resume is a stand-out that will remind them of what they learned about me. It is a ridiculous load of BS, but unfortunately it seems that many jobs rely solely on this system (government, for entry level positions, is one major example I can think of - and I'd love a gov't job).
However, I do think I made a good start today at accomplishing a larger goal of mine to just revamp the whole thing, and now I feel my resume more accurately represents what I aim to achieve and what I have achieved in the past. And, I want it to be more a representation of my style, not just a linear, chronological, technically worded listing that I've regrettably been using for the past four months.
I certainly hope to do something I can love :) I don't intend to be miserable just to have a job, and I feel so extremely lucky to have the luxury of a completely unharnessed life at the moment. Exploration definitely is key.
Thank you for your input! I am really amazed by your abduction retrieval career - what a great way to combine your passion with an incredible cause. Wow!
