So I've been on unemployment for more than a month now. I've been checking the courses that my state makes available, and I've come to the conclusion that I'm really unhappy with the selection. There are many courses devoted to basic email, basic word processing, etc. along with interview and resume-writing courses. But I already know how to use those. You know what would really help me get a job? A course on Quickbooks or Microsoft Access or one of those other computer programs that a lot of employers around here seem to want their new hires to already be familiar with. Does anyone know of any organizations that offer training like that, or has anyone had any success in contacting their state or county and getting then to offer more advanced courses? Any advice on how I could go about doing this, including "this is a really bad idea and here's why"? Thanks.
