This morning there was a rabbit in the backyard feasting on new growth in the shade of the bent oak tree. Toad saw him as he tossed broccoli ends toward the compost pile. "There's a bunny out there!" he delightedly exclaimed. Rabbits and ribbits.
Yesterday there was a blue bunny seated next to a mailbox with a birthday balloon tied to it. More rabbits and ribbits.
The thursday golf course players were much more cordial. It was hot to start and very sunny along the first portion of the walk. Instead of walking the back or west route completely I turned at the end of the shade trees and walked back up and down the little hill in the shade. One of the golfers seemed rather confused, but he said hello and asked how I was. I said i had forgotten to put on my sunscreen so I was walking in the shade. That seemed to alleviate his concern. I spotted a bit of shade across the street, and headed there for a slight change of scenery.
The walk home was warm, but i took the back loop and the breeze there was evident. The straight shot back to the start of my street was hot, and i chose to cross and walk on the grass and street in that bit of tree shadow.
This morning it was already 70 with 93 percent humidity. I told toad we're going to have to go walk by the bay this evening, that's just too hot and sticky for me. Often there is a breeze here, but that's too much heat for my used to the chilly morning air frog.
Yesterday Toad got to pilot out of town for a meeting, the first offical business flight. They fed him lunch too, despite the one french fry. Apparently the company he visited had the main course catered and the employees supplied the sides. There were ample green beans, but only one pomme frite by the time toad arrived. Ice tea gave him some liquid. He frogot to bring water on board and was rather parched. He had to buy a water bottle from a vending machine. I was surprised he frogot to bring water. I asked him if he had a luna bar in case he had to set down due to storms or air traffic instructions before he left. He has some in his brief case.
I told him next time he needs to take along his stewardess who has never run out of water, just salt.
PS Ed- i didn't get a deer lick for my birthday. (Ed thought it was funny I was licking salt from my palm when he picked us up at an airport line shack once. I loose sodium and potassium frequently, no doc has figured out why, so i have permission to have salt and potassium salts at will when i'm feeling woozy. Ed stated he was getting me a deer-lick for my birthday. None arrived.)
