Kaleidoscope

The store she works at is gone.
She watches her job burn and then she takes his hand and they run, diving forward into an explosion of light and death, laughing as they watch something eternal coming to an end, as she watches her world shatter into a millionth of a million of pieces, and then she takes his hand and they’re off, running backwards, into a fairytale with blue ghosts and dead girls and that ends in fire too.
“Not a bad life?’ he asks and no, no it’s not, even if they’re living in a kaleidoscope of flames.
