Vampires don't sleep. Edward asked Carlisle once what that means in reference to dreaming and Carlisle had thought the question odd.

Every sense a body can contain is heightened as a vampire, including memory; it's close enough to dreaming (Carlisle is told; he can't remember any) that the subject doesn't hold much interest to him.
