Holy fuck. Seriously?
This is the most backwards country in the whole fucking world. Seriously. Why? Because we insist on thinking we're so modern, so enlightened, so what everyone wants us to be. But we're so the opposite. Too many Americans insist on living in the fucking Dark Ages, where they let their phobias and their bigotry strip people of their basic civil rights.
I mean, seriously? How can so many people be so fucking stupid?
No matter if Amendment 1 passed or not, gay marriage was not going to be legalized in North Carolina. But even mention the words "gay marriage" and people freak the fuck out. Never mind the fact that who I love and who I fuck has nothing to do with anyone other than who I love or who I fuck. But really?
It's 2012. And we're still even debating this?
The fact of the matter is that gay marriage was only one component of this bill. That is now supposed to become a part of the fucking North Carolina constitution. Civil unions? Domestic partnerships? Stuff straight people do all the time? NOW ALSO ILLEGAL. So that battered woman who no longer gets protection because she's not married to her abuser? That kid who no longer has health insurance because his mom is now no longer married to her husband with much better insurance?
Well, fuck you guys. What do we care? We've made gay marriage just as illegal as it was yesterday so . . . MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

I never wanted to get married but now? Now I'm kind of hoping to fall in love so that I can get married. And have the gayest fucking wedding of all time just so I can shove it down the throats of all the bigots. (Ironically, more than 50% of North Carolinians are fine with gay marriage. Too bad more of them don't exercise their right to vote.)
