Nice Back-to-Back Weekends (Part 1)

Sept. 29-30

So as of last week, my plans for this past weekend were to stay at home and get work done. Last weekend (Sept. 29-30) I went up to NYC. My original plans THAT weekend were to visit DigitalLife and spend the night at Dennis' apartment in Queens. So I actually did do both, but I got a few bonuses last weekend. I decided to meet up with my cousin Margaret in NYC, since she lives in NYC and I haven't seen her since Thanksgiving or Christmas of last year. So we met up near Union Square, walked around the area, and had lunch at a Japanese restaurant. Even at family functions, we usually don't sit together, so I'm making more of an effort this year to be closer to certain friends and family. I also had bubble tea with my cousin for the first time. I thought it was sooooooo weird at first. I got the green tea flavor.

After hanging out w/my cousin, I went to DigitalLife at the Javits. I also met up w/Beth and her b/f. She texted me earlier in the morning asking if I was gonna be there. I guess she had planned to go also, so it was good that we got to see one another. We walked around and caught up on how we're doing with our teaching stuff this year. I didn't stay at the convention too long. It was disappointing IMO. No Konami Booth, wtf?!! There were a few cool things here and there, but overall it didn't have the same spark as previous years.

So after DigitalLife I went back to Penn Station and met up w/Dennis. We went into Borders and I used my super-awesome Educators discount. ;) I got a DVD for Dennis (he gave me $), and I got 2 books. I got a 24 episode guide and a Macromedia Flash tutorial guide. They actually "forgot" to charge me for the fireworks book, score!!

Dennis and I then went to a street fair down near Union Square. I got a classical CD set for $15. The two of us then got dinner at this Asian Fusion restaurant, really cool place. Nice dark lighting, cool furniture setup, and house music...always a plus in my book. I got a drink and the laotian chicken breast dinner, really really good.

After dinner we took a few subways to Queens. I met Dennis' roommate Natsumi and her Romanian friend. We just chilled, and drank some beers, listened to music. I got pretty tipsy, and started passing out in the tv room chair. :P

I crashed on the couch, and had a lot of trouble sleeping. Oh well. The next afternoon, Dennis and I got a subway back to Midtown, and went our separate ways. I got back home around 5-5:30, and of course didn't get a whole lot of work done that night. :P

Good weekend though, always nice to see some familiar faces. :)
