Spontaneity Rules (Part 1)

Friday

Went to the NHVEA social after school.  Our school district has socials the first? Friday of every month at a bar/restaurant.  Met up with Brian, and we talked for a good while.  Also saw Jesse there, and we chatted for a bit.  Lauren #2 was there, and she came up to me and started chatting with me.  Lauren #1 was there, but in the corner, and I didn't talk to her until she was leaving at the end.

The nice thing about these socials are the 1/2 price drinks and free apps.  I think I had 4 Coors Light at the social.  $2 each.  I got a nice buzz goin'.  Brian left early, so I stayed and chatted with Lauren #2.  I knew her last year as one of the SOS (Support On Site) teachers and one of the Tech Club advisors.  Anyways, I had no idea that she was so young!  I think she's like 25 or 26.  I always thought she was in her late 20's.  It was nice having convos w/teachers that I didn't talk with that much last year, namely Jesse and Lauren.

The crowd started thinning out after 5 p.m.  I stayed and met a girl named Kate from North.  I'm really surprised I can't remember seeing her at orientation last year.  It's her 2nd year too.  Anyways, around 6 p.m. it was just Lauren, Jesse, and myself.  We weren't tired yet and wanted to get out, so I suggested we go bowling with my free coupons I got from district office.  I decided to play it safe and let Lauren drive me back to her place so she could get socks.  I could've drove, but better safe than sorry.

Lauren and I drove to Jesse's apartment, and then we went to the bowling alley where we were told to come back in an hour.  So we went to Jesse's apartment and just chatted and had pizza.  Good times.

9 p.m. we went to the bowling alley and got our lane.  We bowled 3 games, and I won all 3. :-P  Lauren had a rockin' game 3, where she bowled a 116!  Jesse had some moments, but struggled a bit.  Anyways, the point is we had fun, and even got a kick out of the couple that was bowling next to us.  One of them was a Voorhees graduate and said her picture is in the yearbook in our display case!  Small world.

After our games we were all exhausted, and went our separate ways.  Lauren dropped me off at the bar so I could get my car.

So on the drive to Lauren's apartment, she asked me if what we were doing was awkward.  She, Jesse, and I had never really talked too much before, and there we were hanging out for hours drinking and eventually going bowling.  I told her that if someone had asked me that I would be going bowling at night w/a few of my colleagues I would've said "heck no."   I predicted going home around 6 on the count of drinking and being tired. :P

It was fun though, a lot of fun.  Made a few new friends, and made it a priority this year to be more social with my colleagues.  Last year I wasn't anti-social, just shy and too stressed out and busy to hang out.
