One full week in the books

So the first school week of the new year is officially in the books. The freshmen came in the afternoon last Wednesday for orientation. All grades came in last Thursday for the first official day of school. I think it's outrageous that some high schools start in August. Shouldn't happen. I know several schools that just started today or yesterday.

So how's my school year going so far? Well here's a quick list of my observations heading into week #2:

  • first day nerves are gone for the most part
  • more confident in talking in front of students
  • students I had last year have seen me in the hallways and in the cafeteria and say hello, which makes me smile
  • not one single teacher whom i haven't met before has mistaken me for a student :-D
  • not having to turn in lesson plans each week to my supervisor = yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy :-D (less work is always a good thing)
  • freshmen and sophmore boys are annoying...and irritating
  • what did I do to deserve caf duty for the 2nd straight year?!!
  • more female students taking Engineering Drawing is a step in the right direction
  • i'm still staying after school till 4:30/5:00...
  • why are there always network and computer problems in my room??

So yeah, so far so good.  A few hiccups here and there, but I haven't technically had a "bad" day yet.

I even have lesson plans all typed up for next week already.  Go me.
