So nice to see you here. I think about you often but didn't know if you wanted to stay in contact with LJ friends. I'm sorry you've been through so much but know I'm proud of the way you've handled it.
I have to admit a few months ago I read one of the Supernatural books too and you are right they are not as good as fan fiction but I did enjoy it.
I reading now a stupid but kind of fun book about a vampire mom but after this one if I come upon something I think you might like I'll let you know. Big hug.

I read tons. What kind of books do you like - mysteries, scifi, fantasy , romance, chicklit, historical fiction, literary fiction, or nonfiction? I can recommend stuff in most genres except chicklit and literary fiction. I can just look at some of the zillion bookshelves that line my condo. (And I even have taken a class called "Reading Interests of Adults" in the past.)

And that Supernatural book that you mentioned is on the hassock by my couch at the moment. : )

If you loved "The Secret Garden", you might like Kate Morton's "The Forgotten Garden". Frances Hodgson Burnett even makes a brief appearance at a party ( ... )

Hi Tam! It's so nice to see you back on LJ during your summer vacation - but I'm terribly sorry to hear about the migraines. *hugs you*

I just recommended a book to another friend yesterday: Blessings by Anna Quindlen. It's a wonderful, short little book, very rich in character - I hesitate to say too much for fear of ruining some of the nice surprises, but it concerns a young man who makes a life-changing (in a good way) discovery, and the wealthy, elderly woman he works for. I recommend it highly!

Take good care of yourself! I'll look forward to your posts over the summer.

Thanks for the understanding. :)

The problem with migraines is that they're still so misunderstood by people. They still seem to think that it's "just a headache." Which is so NOT the truth. They're blinding and debilitating. (My sister is actually jealous that my mom and I get migraines, so she insists that she gets them too, but she's still able to yell and run around and be active and productive and laugh, and that's NOT possible with a migraine.)

Thanks for the info about the neurologist. I did actually go see one (but not for the migraines, although I did bring them up). His response was to put me on some anti-seizure meds as a potential preventative measure, but there's a potential side-effect of irreversible glaucoma in the only eye that I have left, so I'm really reluctant to try it.

I really didn't feel like he was listening to me, either. He was definitely trying to get me out of his office. So I do need to get a new neurologist and try again.

I don't really have any books for you.

But I'm so glad to hear from you at all, sweetie. *hugs tight and clings to you*
Don't leave us worrying this long again with total radio-silence.

I mean, just look at the effect it has on others...
From left to right: radio silence -> hearing from you again.

Okay, first of all...

...

...

Guh...

My brain, it has melted.

Kat, this is such a drool-worthy collage!

It's BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much.

:)

*hugs you*

I've really missed you Kat. And I owe you several apologies, 'cause you've initiated contact a few times, and I never responded. I swear that it was never personal, or even deliberate...I just didn't have it in me to make that tiny effort. I had so little energy this year. They said it'll take a total of two years to get my physical/emotional stamina back, and I'm a year in, so I hope it'll get better soon.

But here's the IMPORTANT question...

HOW WAS YOUR CONVENTION????!!!!!??????????!!!!!!!!!

Did you meet them? TELL MEEEEEEE!!!!!

I was squeeing for you and with you when I read that you were going to go. And I agree that it's TOTALLY worth the cost.

Thanks for not giving up on me Kat. I appreciate you.

*hugs again*

I get it. You had a lot more on your mind than answering. I'm just glad to hear you are okay, or at least getting there.
Get your life back, sweetie, even if it takes time. *hugs*

Did you meet them? TELL MEEEEEEE!!!!!
By now make that conventions, as in plural.
