In happier news...
We had an excellent time in Hawaii. The big island proved to be far more fun than I anticipated. I have to admit that I wasn't all that thrilled with going to the big island because I like my sandy beaches and I thougth I'd be seeing nothing other than the lava covered beaches that required me to constantly wear reef shoes. Now, I'll admit that was largely the case but this island is simply amazing!
We flew out late in the afternoon on Friday, the 16th, and didn't arrive in Hawaii until bright an early Saturday morning. Brad's parents picked us up and we went to have breakfast at the Sheraton (which sucked by the way) and then to a place called "The Place of Refuge" to explore and kill time before we could check in to our condo.
Here we are after our icky breakfast enjoying the view from the Sheraton:
The view from the Sheraton gave us a sneak peek of the Outrigger Condo's at Kona that we were staying at... talk about a fabulous location:

Holy buckets of lava:
We checked into the condo that afternoon and discovered that Brad's sister, Shelley, couldn't get on our flight because Cheaptickets.com screwed up a few things. So, we enjoyed our first night on the island as a group of four and that tropical air, the sound of crashing waves and the mai tai in my hand washed away any left over stress I carried with me from the mainland. Ah, vacation!
I'll post more Hawaii photos later!
