Well, the gym's going to be cold for a while. And it seems I'll have to go back on my offers of hot water for now. The tea I was promised for all this had better be of exceptional quality.

Perhaps it's not my place to say, but if I may venture my humble opinion . . . perhaps the auditorium would not be too great a loss for the medical community ( Read more... )

I heard about everyone losing their powers recently. You lost your "firebending" too?

I did. I'm afraid I won't be able to put on that demonstration I promised.

I do have an old supply of matches from the last time I was without my bending, so fortunately I can still offer my visitors a little bit of warm water.

I'm more worried about how you'll fare without it. Fire Pokemon can feel cold or get sick without their fire, that isn't the case here, is it?

Well I won't lie and say it isn't unpleasant, but I wouldn't want you to worry for my sake. You don't get to be my age by being of delicate condition where the weather is concerned.

And anyway, there's always body heat -

(OOC: STRIKES NOT THERE LOL.)

So you'll be okay without it? That's good! I'm sure we'll find other ways of heating things until you've got it back.

In the meantime, my students will simply have to build up a resistance to cold. It will be good for them, in the long run.

Students? What do you teach?

Breathing.

If they prove they can learn that, then I teach the arts of combat.

Combat--? I'm guessing your world had more conflict than mine, then.

Well, yes - unfortunately, the nations are currently at war. But the martial arts are a time-honored tradition with a history rooted in self-discipline and the search for enlightenment. I never found a culture that did not practice its own unique style, and many of their origin stories are quite beautiful . . .

We have martial arts where I'm from too, but I don't think they're as big as they are in your world. There are a few schools of different styles in the larger towns, and for a lot of the same reasons, but Pokemon training is much more popular. Sometimes the two mix, usually with trainers that specialize in Fighting Pokemon.
