Day 203 - Union Square Farmer's Market at Twilight, originally uploaded by

Today was a beautiful spring day, at least initially. Temperature-wise, still ranks way up there with the best of them from the last few months. Up in the 50s. Heavenly.
First thing this morning, V and I wandered out to Hell's Kitchen to grab breakfast at
Sullivan St., which continues to impress. I won't say the plain croissants are the best ever, they are a little hearty, not really French-style, but everything is at least tasty if not out-and-out delicious. (The banana / espresso / chocolate chip bread pastry thing this morning was stunning.) Took our breakfast to go and walked down to Penn Plaza to catch the first showing of
Rango (I love the first showing pricing of $6, and a good cartoony matinee). The script and story were good, not quite as tight and well crafted as you might hope, but certainly clever and well done. Visually, though, I was really blown away. It's getting to the point that soon a filmmaker that wants to make something that is visually stunning is going to be better off doing it all digitally (animated or not) because the real world really just can't compete anymore.
Afterward we walked back through the theater district (ZOMG so many people out on foot today, the crowds are coming back, grumble grumble), did some apartment stuff, and then ran some additional errands down in Chelsea / Gramercy, and got back to the apartment just in time to run out to get to a walking "ghost tour" of Grand Central (which was kind of lame, sadly.)
A lovely day. The big surprise was really just how much walking we did. Walking back from Grand Central I mentioned that we had probably walked four miles. Then, recalculating, I figured that was probably low. And when I mapped it back at the apartment, I figured that we actually put in 7.5 miles. Without even trying. I love how that works.
