Alexandra is 2!

So Alex turned to on the 28th of September.  We decided not to do a big family & friends birthday party because it's really just a lot of work, we can't fit that many people in our house, you don't really get to visit with anybody, and Alex goes into people overload and is cranky all day.   Do we didn't!

Now for the drama - people really, why is there always drama!  Trina (et. al) was out for lunch with Heather (et. al) on Saturday (Alex's birthday was the next day) and told Trina not to worry about keeping my secret becaue they already know Alex is having a birthday party...and they're not invited.  After their lunch Trina phones me so I can do some damage control as I've morally offended Heather.  I called and talked to her and invited her for spaghetti, all the while explaining that we're not having a birthday party.  She politely declined my invitation.  Shocker!   ARRGGHH!

As a touching surprise, all of my aunts and uncles sent (or brought over later) a gift.  I didn't expect that at all!  As I called each one of them to say thank you, I worked into the conversation that we didn't ever plan to have a party and hope they weren't offended by not being invited to one - everyone said that it was just fine with them, and very convincingly so.  Apparenlty it's just Heather who got her nose out of joint.

Alex started a new daycare on Wednesday, and so far so good.  A few separation issues, but all in all I'd say a successful transition to date.  Now if we could just get her to sleep through the night more than once a week!
