Summary: Lyle runs into Allelujah at the cafe and tells him about his undercover mission.
Allelujah sat down at a table in the cafe, patiently waiting for his meal to arrive as he sipped a cup of coffee. He was feeling rather relaxed for once, not just because he'd just gone to the hotsprings after his workout, but because he'd finally worked out at least a few things that had been troubling him for a while.
Lyle paused as he passed by the café. He’d gone out looking for gifts for certain people, but all he’d gotten was an appetite. He hadn’t been to the café for a while and decided he could treat himself. He entered and glanced around to see if anyone he knew might be around.
Hearing the door open, Allelujah glanced up out of curiosity. He didn't have much difficult recognizing which twin it was, and gave a faint smile before calling out. "Lyle, good afternoon."
“Allelujah,” Lyle said, smiling at the other meister as he made his way over. “Good afternoon to you too. I’m surprised you’re not busy today.”
Lovely, so other people that he rarely spoke with anyway had noticed his preoccupation lately. Allelujah's smile turned wry as he gestured, silently inviting the other to have a seat. "Taking a break before work."
It had really only been a guess, considering that somehow they had missed running into each other thus far. Lyle nodded, taking a seat. “Sounds more productive than my day.”
Allelujah shrugged slightly, it was just easier for him to keep busy than to be idle. "It sounds like you are taking advantage of a vacation here."
“I guess I am,” Lyle smiled. He really enjoyed the opportunities he had hanging out with his brother and girlfriend. Still, something bothered him. “Does that mean you aren’t?”
"I am..taking advantage of having things to do here." He wasn't sure how much Lyle knew about him. Talking with Setsuna, Neil and Tieria were different, even Sumeragi..They knew him, as much as anyone really could, he felt.
“Such as what?” Lyle inquired. He hadn’t gotten to know the meister as well as he wished, but perhaps he could change that. Even if it had been his idea not to grow too close to them, given his awkward position.
"Jogging, keeping in shape, working at the clothing store, working on Kyrios.." When Allelujah actually listed what he did each day, it sounded rather like his usual day on the Ptolemy, except switch out working at the clothing store with missions. But hey, it was a huge difference from what he'd been doing during the three years prior to arriving on the island.
The corners of Lyle’s mouth twitched. “I think you need a vacation away from yourself.” Granted Allelujah’s day pretty much summed up life on the Ptolemy, but that was sort of the issue. Not that Lyle wasn’t working himself, just from another angle. “You’re at least doing something fun for Christmas, right?”
Allelujah couldn't help but chuckle quietly at that. "What would you suggest then?" He nodded at the question. "Your brother would never forgive me if I didn't participate in the party he's setting up."
Lyle shrugged. “You could do something you wouldn’t normally have time or the opportunity to do on the Ptolemy.” Although it sounded like Neil’s party might actually qualify for that. “We never really had Christmas celebrations on the Ptolemy did we?”
"Didn't have time for hotsprings, even if we had ready access to them. I tend to go there most days." Then, of course, there was spending time with Neil, and others that he wouldn't normally do. Though, really, he should do more of that than he had been. Allelujah shrugged slightly. "Probably more out of practicality than lack of desire for it." That was one thing he doubted would change.
Lyle chuckled. “I suppose it’s easy to slip back into a routine.” Internally, he winced. He’d certainly taken advantage of some things, but he’d also fallen back into the same old trap. The only difference being this time he only had one ally.
Allelujah gave a wry smile before commenting, "The familiar can be comforting."
“Or unnerving,” Lyle replied. He toyed with the tablecloth for a moment, unsure if he should tell Allelujah about his undercover gig with Ribbons. He wasn’t sure how the other meister would take it, but if he got some support, that would be well worth the risk. On the other hand, he didn’t really have a choice since he still needed the meister’s full cooperation-which would include Hallelujah.
Allelujah frowned. "What do you mean?" He would have no problem with Lyle's plan, if he were to learn about it, though Hallelujah would probably want to know why they should bother, considering what he wanted to do to Ribbons.
Lyle smoothed the tablecloth down, though he kept his eyes on Allelujah’s coffee. “I’ve talked this over with Tieria already,” he began, “but it kind of involves you, too. I met up with Ribbons outside of the Halloween party. Anyway, we reached an agreement that if Hallelujah didn’t injure him further, then he would be a little more forthcoming with information about his plans.”
Allelujah froze at the mention of Ribbons, before shaking his head, trying to keep the alter from taking over and literally throwing something at Lyle, at the least. Which, somehow, involved his fingers tightening around the poor cup of coffee for a long moment before Hallelujah reluctantly backed off a little. "I..I cannot promise he won't do anything to Ribbons, especially if Ribbons decides to attack anyone, or attempts to steal one of the Gundams again.."
Lyle watched him warily, not quite sure how much control Allelujah had over his alter. Truth be known, he hadn’t ever held a conversation with Hallelujah, but something told him it’d be a short one. “I understand; if Ribbons does something like that, by all means, have at him. But, I’d prefer him to make the mistake first than for Hallelujah to incite something, deliberate or not.”
Allelujah sighed, forcing at least some of the tension out of his grip on the cup. He had some control over Hallelujah, though the island seemed rather fond of letting the alter take over more than he normally would. "Thank you..That..makes it easier. I've been doing my best to keep away from Ribbons as it is, but...Well, Hallelujah tends to do whatever he wants unless someone forces him to do otherwise."
Lyle nodded. “It’s a small island too, so keeping away from him might not be all that easy - or practical. But anything that Hallelujah could resist doing to Ribbons, would be a great start.” He wasn’t sure if he was even getting through to the alter ego, but it had been worth trying.
Allelujah nodded. "If Ribbons could avoid antagonizing Hallelujah as well, that would probably help." Hallelujah was hardly happy with what was being asked of him, but he figured as long as Ribbons didn't do anything to hurt those he actually gave a shit about, namely Allelujah and Kyrios-but grudgingly extending to those Allelujah cared about-he could resist ripping the Innovator apart.
“Yes probably, but Ribbons knows what he’s dealing with and he’s not very anxious to tangle with Hallelujah anytime soon.” Lyle breathed a sigh of relief, even though he knew the hard part was only just beginning. “And…thank you, that helps a lot.”
Allelujah sighed quietly. At least Ribbons had learned something because of what Hallelujah had done, even if that just extended to avoiding him as much as possible. "That is good..Have you spoken with Neil about what you're doing?"
Lyle shook his head. “Not yet. I’m not entirely sure how he’s going to take it. But maybe everything will go alright and he doesn’t have to find out.”
Which earned Lyle a long, expressionless stare. "He'll be mad if you don't tell him," was the warning. In Allelujah's way of thinking, that would be just as bad as him trying to hide something from Hallelujah.
“I know.” He had known even as he said it that keeping it from Neil would be implausible anyway. If he wasn’t sharing the same hut that’d be one thing, but they were still brothers. Softly he asked, “Was Neil ever one to overreact to something?”
Allelujah considered the wording of his answer, sipping the black liquid. "I cannot imagine he'd be calm about this, if told after the fact. Generally, he is fairly calm. But toss into the equation that you are his brother? I'd suggest telling him within the next couple days."
“Alright, I’ll see if I can steal a few moments alone with him to tell him.” He doubted that Pluto needed to know, or would care. But his brother was around often enough that it wouldn’t be too much of an issue. “Oh, one more thing. Setsuna…” he hesitated trying to phrase it delicately and failed. “We’re trying to keep this to as few people as possible, and Setsuna might not understand.”
Allelujah nodded in acceptance. "Good idea." He quirked a brow at Setsuna being brought up. He had to admit it made sense. "I will not say a word to him about this, then." Unless it was obvious Lyle was in trouble and the other Meisters needed to step in to help. But that was a given.
Lyle smiled. “Good. I think that sums up everything and then some.” He glanced around the café a little more relaxed than he had been.
Allelujah smiled faintly, nodding when the waiter brought over his food, finally. "Alright."
Lyle’s stomach chose that moment to growl and he flushed. “Right, I’ll let you get back to your meal while I order mine. And, it is good to see you again.”
Allelujah managed to stifle a chuckle, though his smile widened a little in amusement. "Enjoy your lunch. It was good to see you again as well. Good luck."
