Summary: Heero's hiding in the hangar again, as he's been doing pretty much since Relena left the island. Allelujah comes in to do some work, and invites the sullen Wing pilot for a flight around the island to exercise their mobile suits.

Heero stepped into the hangar. He'd been spending most of his time there after Relena had disappeared from the island. His social mood had pretty much disappeared as a result. Instead, he'd been spending time working on Zero. With Treize's Tallgeese II gone as well, he didn't have an alternate MS to work with should something happen that they were needed, so he was going to have to get used to the system again, as much as he disliked it. He sat down in the cockpit of the winged Gundam, not immediately setting to work.

Allelujah walked into the hangar a few minutes later with plans to take Kyrios out to keep in practice, even if it didn't matter much in the sceme of things. He paused just inside the door, long enough to look at all the different MS there, before continuing on to the orange Gundam. Hallelujah was still being unusually quiet, which was starting to make him nervous.

A soft hum and a flash of green from the eyes showed Zero was starting up as Heero powered on the computer system. While he didn't have immediate plans to take the Gundam out of hangar, he was going to at least get some basic maintenance in for the time being. Plus, it was quiet and out of the way here, so it was rare if anyone bothered him.

The Meister paused when he noticed a flash of green and a quiet hum start up, turning his head to see which suit was being used. Studying Zero for a moment, he gave a slight nod in case the pilot was watching before he continued on to Kyrios. Once in the cockpit of his Gundam, he started the systems working to do a diagnostic before anything else. He turned the communications device on, in case the other pilot wished to speak to him. Depending on if they spoke the same language, as the island seemed to be playing tricks on them again.

Zero detected the comm device's presence on the network once the other pilot had switched it on. Heero was curious, to say the least. Did that mean the pilot wanted to talk? He noted which Gundam it was. Duo had mentioned a lot of the new ones showing up were from the same world. If he remembered correctly, this particular pilot was the one that seemed to react strangely around Quatre because of the blond's empathy. He flipped on his own comm device, just to see what would happen.

Allelujah'd not felt Hallelujah react to whoever it was in the active Gundam, so figured whoever it was wouldn't set him off. Which was good, it meant less of a headache, which he didn't need. Kyrios picked up on the fact the other pilot had turned his comm on, and informed him of it. As he was waiting for the list of what might be needing maintenance, he figured he might as well try to learn a bit more about that world. Switching the view to the forefront, he pinged the other pilot.

Heero blinked, glancing over at the comm again. So maybe he did want to talk. He clicked it on, bringing up the video. Just as long as he wasn't a motormouth like Duo, Heero didn't much care if the guy wanted to talk. He nodded, studying the image on his screen for a moment. Hadn't someone posted something about the way that pilot wore his hair meaning something?

The chattermouth would be more like Hallelujah had been before his 'death'. Allelujah nodded in return, studying the other pilot before offering a greeting in English, opting for the language he thought the other was more likely to know. "Am I disturbing you?"

Heero caught the slight accent, as it was vaguely similar to Polish, but not exact. Russian, perhaps? It was definitely slavic. He shook his head, also going for English in response, since the other clearly knew it. "No," he said. "Just basic diagnostics."

Allelujah noticed the slight accent and recognized it to likely be Japanese, to go with the other's appearance. He glanced down to see how far his own diagnostic was. "Same." He briefly considered inviting the other out, if only for a flight around the island. "Interested in flying around the island when the diagnostic's done?"

Heero considered it. Zero could probably use the run at this point. His lack of flight tests was stemming more from his own hesitation of coming into contact with that system again after how badly it backfired last time. It had been too long for him away from the Gundam, and the whole situation felt like he'd never touched the ZERO system before in his life. He needed to get past that, but he was nervous about potentially causing damage if he lost control. Still... He nodded. "Alright," he said.

The Meister saw the slight conflict and wondered about it. Had something bad happened the last time the other had gone out on a test flight? That was never a good thing to happen to a pilot, especially a Gundam pilot, regardless of what world they were from. He nodded at the confirmation. "Does your suit have a flight mode?"

"Not anymore," Heero said. "But it'll keep up." The new design had eliminated the need for a flight mode.

Allelujah quirked a curious brow before nodding. "Understood." Noting Kyrios' diagnostic was complete, and that he didn't need to make any adjustments, he commented, "ready when you are."

Heero nodded once, glancing at his own readings to make sure. He routed power to the engines once it was ready to go, moving towards the door.

Allelujah switched Kyrios' systems from diagnostic to full power before moving out after the smaller Gundam. Once out of the hangar, the Meister guided his suit towards the beach, figuring that to be the safest point to take off.

Once they were clear of the village, Heero kicked the engines up to full, launching the Gundam into the air. As it climbed to a respectable height, it was clear that the suit didn't need a flight mode to keep up.

Kyrios was switched over to flight mode after the initial launch, and Allelujah felt a faint smile appear as the mech responded perfectly, despite the sand that constantly tried to foil the systems. Kyrios gave chase after Zero, almost in a playfull manner as it's pilot felt his spirits rise a bit at the feel of freedom.

Heero checked his sensors, spotting the orange and white machine coming up on him. The flight mode transformation had been impressive and fast, faster than either version of Wing had ever gone through. He smirked just slightly. This was going to be fun. The angel-like wings tilted, sending the Gundam into a dive before pulling up at the last minute to skim along the surface of the water. Heero made sure to keep the island in his sightline. It wouldn't do to get lost and possibly stranded too far out.

Allelujah smirked faintly when he saw Zero dip and skim then surface of the water, sending his Kyrios down in a spinning dive to test the reaction timing, pulling up in time to come close to the water as well. He too kept an eye on the shore, not confident enough yet to attempt to go much further out. He put on speed, wanting to see how fast the other suit was, already impressed it didn't need a flight mode to move swiftly.

What caught Heero's attention were the emissions from the other suit. He'd never seen a particle trail like that. The green sparkles left a glowing line of dust behind them as they skimmed the water. Usually, with the Gundams from his world, any dust particles would shake off after the first few maneuvers if they didn't get blown off from air resistance. "Is that normal? Those emissions?" he asked as he sped up, giving in to the desire to show off a bit.

"Yeah, the drive gives off GN particles that can prevent my Gundam from being detected. Also messes with outside communications." Allelujah figured it couldn't hurt to talk about what the drive could do, simply because they were from different worlds.

Interesting. "Duo has a similar system on his Gundam," Heero said. "It's built more for stealth than the rest of us." Of course, it didn't give off sparkly green lights. But, from what Heero could see, that was just something that was always on. Duo had to consciously switch his system over to get it running. "You don't use a Haro like the other one?"

Allelujah had the ability to turn that feature off, though he rarely did, considering what his missions were. It was Setsuna who used the GN particles in that way less often. Shaking his head at the comment about Haros, "no, don't use one outside of maintenance. Neil only has one in his suit because his is a sniper model, he needs something to pilot while he picks off targets."

"That makes sense," Heero said. Sounded like a nice little feature to have, even if one wasn't using a sniper mode. It would be a good back up system.

The Meister nodded slightly, even as he had Kyrios come to an abrupt halt, pleased with the response. He'd probably have a Haro anyway if not for his..normally..violent alternate personality.

Heero overshot Kyrios just long enough for his reaction time with the ZERO to kick in, which was actually rather quick, but their high speed left him a bit off from the other suit. Small jets in the wing feathers kept Zero hovering above the water in addition to the regular engines on the back and under the feet. "Your Gundam's fast," Heero said.

Allelujah smiled faintly, having noticed the swift response of the other suit as well. "One advantage of having a flight mode. I see why yours doesn't need one." He was also impressed with the other's reaction time. He had Kyrios speed towards Zero, shifting over just enough to avoid it before moving on.

"The previous versions had a flight mode," Heero said, turning Zero to follow. "The new wing design didn't allow for it really, so the engines were boosted instead."

"Interesting," was Allelujah's comment.

"This design enables atmospheric entry to be a little easier, though," Heero offered. "The wings wrap around the Gundam like a cocoon."

Allelujah blinked, a bit startled before he quirked a slight smirk. "Do most mobile suits have the ability to enter and exit the atmosphere on their own? Or is your world similar to mine in that very few have that capacity?"

"Very few," Heero said. "Most of us use shuttles to launch and land. Reentry is easier on the newer Gundams, though. They're shielded for it or have parachutes to help out."

The Meister nodded slightly. "We generally use the orbital train when we return to space."

"Orbital train?" Heero asked as they flew along, following the shoreline.

Kyrios did a steep ascent, "it's how people travel to the colonies, as well as the orbital rings that collect solar energy."

"Hn." Solar energy... That intigued Heero a bit as he climbed after Kyrios. "How long has that been in use?"

Allelujah sent his suit into a series of manouvers to make sure everything was as it should be. He took a bit of time to make sure he wasn't overcome by the past before he quietly answered, "it's been about ten years."

"So it's still fairly new," Heero remarked.

He nodded slightly, "it's the main reason the war's still going on."

"Energy supplies mean power," Heero said. "All wars are about power."

"And endless power means a lot of work to avoid corruption." Allelujah let Kyrios level out and continue along the coastline.

Barrel rolling into position alongside, Heero nodded. "That's where people like us come in."

"Precisely. If it works, fantastic. The world's at peace." Allelujah leaned back in his seat as he silently finished the thought with even if the consequence is a complete reorder of society, and death for those who forced the change.

"If it works," Heero said. "It's not easy to keep once it happens."

"Have you and your comrades managed it?" That sounded like the other pilot spoke from experience, but Allelujah wanted to know for sure.

"Mostly." Heero looked down at the water, remembering the last time he'd taken Zero over water... fighting Wufei. "But it still needs work. There are those who still try to take power or haven't found other methods for making money."

Allelujah sighed quietly. "Never ending cycle.."

Heero frowned. "An endless waltz..." he said, remembering Mariemeia's words that Relena had later told him about.

Which sparked a quirk of a brow before a slow nod. "..Poetic, but..appropriate."

"Mm-hm."

"About ready to head back? Kyrios seems to be working as it should."

Heero nodded. "Sure," he said. He had enough data on Zero for anything that might need to be done. Added to the fact that the ZERO system didn't trigger, all the better.

Allelujah angled Kyrios a bit back towards land, shifting it from flight mode to the normal mode and feeling the usual difference in speed decreasing, while manouverability increasing. If he'd known anything about the ZERO system, he'd probably be forced to one side as Hallelujah challenged the other pilot to a 'spar'.

Heero banked around with him, heading back towards the hangar as well. Right now, Heero was nervous with the idea of sparring against an unknown opponent. He knew Quatre, Duo, Trowa, and Wufei could probably stop him... Zechs as well. Noin's Taurus and Hilde's space Leo weren't nearly strong enough. However, he knew nothing about these other suits. He didn't want to risk it.

Allelujah rarely had a say in what Hallelujah did anymore, simply because his alter rarely listened to what he did say. As Kyrios landed, he finally decided to mention something about his split personality, as it had been on his mind during the flight. "Do you remember a couple months ago..Many of those here who pilot Gundams, and a few others met at the hangar..And I fell from my Gundam?"

"Yes." That had been a bit of a shock. While Heero and Trowa had each taken a fall from the cockpit themselves before, it was still disconcerting to see someone fall that far and hit the ground hard.

Allelujah was just glad a few people had at least tried to stop his fall, if they hadn't, he'd have had much more than just a headache. "Remember what happened after? Any...change in my behavior?"

"Sort of," Heero said. "At least, you seemed different at that point than you do now." He hadn't seen much of Allelujah just before that.

"That's because, due to part of my training, I have a split personality called Hallelujah. You could say he's my exact opposite."

Heero didn't answer right away as they walked towards the hangar with the two machines once they had landed on the beach. He considered his next words carefully, as he didn't want to insult Allelujah or make him feel like a loon. It wasn't his fault if it was the training that did it to him. "It's not the first time I've met someone like that. Is he a problem?"

Allelujah had the feeling Heero was carefully wording his reply, likely to try to avoid offending him or other such thing, which he appreciated. And he remembered the only other person he'd ever met similar to himself. "He can be..Generally he takes over when I can't handle a situation, or come in contact with other people who use..well, what we call Quantum Brainwaves. People like Quatre, and telepaths, I believe are what others call them. Here though...He's started just taking over for no reason."

"Quatre had trouble with his own abilities for a while after arriving here," Heero said. "Perhaps it's related."

Allelujah blinked. "What sort of trouble? How'd he handle it?"

"He had one of the other residents help him," Heero said as he maneuvered Zero into its regular spot. "He had trouble shielding other people's emotions."

Kyrios followed it's pilots commands to its former position and began its shut down procedure. Allelujah felt a slight frown return as he considered what he might do. "..Don't suppose you know who he got help from?"

"I think he said he asked Midna." Heero started his shut down sequence.

"Midna..? I've met her, briefly." Allelujah commented quietly, considering. "If she's telepathic, or empathic, then she shields very well."

"I'm not sure what her abilities are beyond portals."

The Meister nodded in agreement. "She can move things without touching them, if my memory of her is correct. Though..I think she denied using her mind.."

"Some other power, then," Heero said thoughtfully as he finished. The cockpit hatch opened and stepped out. He stretched slightly, as that cockpit seemed to get more and more cramped every time he got in it. "You'd probably have to ask her."

Allelujah finished up at about the same time and opened the hatch as well. Stepping out, he didn't feel the need to stretch, simply because his cockpit had a bit more space than Zero appeared to have. "I will..It would be a relief to be able to shield well enough, without having to rely on Hallelujah, that I could talk to people with empathic and telepathic abilities.."

Heero nodded. "And there's enough here that I could see how that would be an issue."

Allelujah nodded before starting down the lift line to the ground. "So far, when the island's placed me in a hut with someone like that, I've stayed at one of my teammate's huts.." No way was he going to admit he'd slept in Kyrios for over a week before certain people had forced him to sleep elsewhere.

"At least you've had a place to go in that situation," Heero said, almost returning to the ground.

Letting the lift go back up after he'd reached the ground, Allelujah gave a slight nod. "I'm fortunate to have someone like him here."

"I've noticed it's better to have someone familiar." Heero looked down, then. Better, but worse when they were sent away and you suddenly were left with that hole.

Allelujah noticed the reaction, and could guess as to the cause. Then again, he was used to loosing people around him, close to him. Look at Hallelujah, Allelujah'd yet to recover emotionally from loosing his alter, even if the other'd returned thanks to the island. "When I arrived, it was just me and him. Others started trickling in after that..Can't imagine it was too pleasant for him to find himself alone though.."

Heero shook his head. "No... Duo was the first from our world. He was oddly relieved to see me."

"Why was it odd?" Was Allelujah's cautious question.

Heero shrugged. "He's Duo."

Allelujah smirked slightly. While he didn't know the braided pilot all that well, he'd heard of his love of pranks.

"Thanks for the flight," Heero said.

Allelujah nodded. He turned and headed for the door, giving a slight wave to Zero's pilot.

Heero nodded in return before heading on his own way.
