RP Log - Haro Attracts Attention Where Ever He Goes

Who: Heero and Lockon
When: a few days ago
Where: hangar
Rating: G
Warnings: spoilers
Summary: Heero is curious about the Haro...

Lockon headed into the hangar, Haro bouncing along behind him. He wanted to check on Dynames so he was using the free time to work on the mech. He held the door open for Haro and the little robot bounced in a head of him.

Heero looked up from his diagnostics on Zero at an odd bouncing kind of noise entering the hangar. It had a somewhat metallic clang to it, and that's what got his interest the most. Curious, he leaned forward, sticking his head out to see if he could see who had just entered the hangar.

Haro started bouncing in a random direction, not heading towards Dynames.

"Hey, hey," Lockon called to the little robot with a slight chuckle. "Where are you going?"

Haro stopped and turned back to Lockon. He flapped. "Haro! Haro!"

'Haro?' Heero watched for a moment, wondering if this was the new pilot Duo had mentioned. He climbed out on to Zero's hatch to watch them for a moment.

Lockon chuckled. He hadn't seen Heero yet. "Come back over here," he said. "We're going to work on Dynames."

Haro bounced back over to Lockon.

Heero sat down, the other man's words confirming his suspicions. Hanging his legs over the side, he watched them approached the other Gundam. He'd seen it when he came in, but had been expecting it when Duo mentioned the new pilot. "Hello," he finally said.

Lockon looked up as he and Haro headed over to Dynames. Haro stopped as well and turned to look up at Heero as well. "Hey there," he called.

Haro flapped. "Haro! Haro!"

Heero nodded. "Is that your Gundam?" he asked.

Lockon nodded. "It is. Gundam Dynames. I assume that one is yours."

"Wing Zero," Heero answered.

Lockon nodded. "Very interesting." Haro flapped.

Heero nodded, watching Haro. "What is that?" he asked.

"This?" Lockon asked, picking up Haro. "This is a Haro. It is a robot from our world. This one assists me with repairing my Gundam as well as piloting."

"A robot?" Heero watched.

Lockon nodded. Haro flapped again.

"How does it help?" Heero couldn't see any arms... and he wasn't sure how a flapping round ball could possibly be useful with repairs.

Without Lockon prompting, Haro raised the ear flaps and two arms lowered. After that the two lower flaps flipped back and two legs lowered.

Lockon chuckled, setting Haro down so it was now standing. "It also has a console he uses for piloting."

"It pilots?" Now Heero was really interested. He grabbed Zero's zip line and dropped to the hangar floor to investigate.

Lockon nodded. "He does."

Haro put his arms away and flapped. "Haro pilots! Pilots Dynames!"

Heero reached down and picked up the robot, turning it over and looking at it.

Haro flapped when Heero turned him over. "Turn over! Turn over!" Haro told him.

Lockon slightly grimaced hoping that Heero would turn him back over.

Heero did, eventually. He looked at the front of the robot, at the small LEDs that were eyes. He was clearly fascinated by it.

Haro stared back at Haro, obviously since he didn't have much choice at the moment. After a few moments, Haro very quickly raised his ear flaps and held them up. Lockon couldn't help, but chuckle. He didn't know what the point of that had been, whether it had been to make Heero put him down or just for the heck of it because he was stared at.

Heero blinked. He turned Haro again, looking at the hands tucked away underneath them. "This is amazing."

Haro flapped again. "Put down! Put down!" Haro said.

"Haro has Artificial Intelligence," Lockon at least attempted to explain. "He prefers to not be turned over."

Heero looked at Lockon for a moment, then back at Haro. "Oh." He put Haro back down. "Sorry."

Haro flapped. "It's okay. It's okay."

"How does it pilot?" Heero asked.

"It has a console inside Dynames that connects to the Gundam so he can talk to the Gundam."

"Does it only connect via the console?"

Lockon nodded. "Can't talk to Dynames anyother way as far as I know."

Heero nodded, looking up at the Gundam in question. "What's its function in battle?" he asked, referring to the Gundam.

"Dynames is a sniper," Lockon said. "It has several smaller weapons and then it sniper rifle which I have a special scope inside the Gundam so I can aim it. Haro usually pilots the Gundam when I do that."

Heero looked at the rifle in question for a moment, then at Zero's. "Do you have other Gundams in your world?"

Lockon nodded. "There were three others on the team I was in. There were also a couple more."

"And Haro didn't work with any of the others?"

Lockon shook his head. "No. None of the other Gundams were set up for Haros. There were others that helped with repairs as well, but none of the others piloted."

Heero nodded. "I wonder if it can communicate with other Gundams if it has a console."

Lockon blinked. "I don't know why he wouldn't be able to."

"Hn." Heero looked thoughtful. "Can I see the console?"

Lockon nodded. "Sure." He headed in the direction of Dynames.

Heero followed.

Lockon picked up Haro and climbed the ladder up to his hatch. He paused to wait for Heero.

Heero made his way up easily.

Lockon stepped inside his Gundam and sat down. "You should probably come in here. It easier to see it if the hatch closed," Lockon said.

Heero was impressed by the size of the cockpit. Granted, Lockon was a bigger guy than he himself had been as a pilot, but there was still a lot of extra space. He moved inside, being careful not to touch anything.

Lockon closed the hatch. When it was closed, he set Haro in his console. Haro flapped happily. "It's right there," Lockon told Heero.

Heero looked it over, noting the way Haro sat in it. "Interesting."

Lockon nodded. "I never caught your name. I'm Lockon."

"Heero. I'm called Heero Yuy," he said.

"Okay. Nice to meet you, Heero."

Heero nodded.

"So that's the console," Lockon said, picking up Haro for if Heero wanted to look at it.

Heero looked to see if could tell where Haro actually connected.

Haro flapped where he now sat on Lockon's leg.

"I wonder if I could recreate this."

Lockon blinked. "Maybe. I'm not sure."

Heero nodded. "It's worth trying. It's not like we're going to meet anywhere else after this."

Lockon nodded. "That is true."

"Do you mind if I try? I might have to borrow Haro to see how he connects."

Lockon blinked. That certainly was one of the odder requests he had gotten. "I don't mind, but Haro will be the one to decide that."

Now it was Heero's turn to look a little surprised. Haro? But it was robot. Granted, Lockon had mentioned it had an AI system in it, but was it really that autonomous? He looked at the little orange ball.

Haro flapped. "It's okay! It's okay!"

Heero nodded.

Lockon chuckled. Well, the Haro had spoken. He opened the hatch again. "So how long have you been here?" Lockon asked.

"I've been the island for almost two years," Heero said. "I've been away from home for almost three." He'd spent about a year in the desert before arriving here.

Watching the hatch, Heero stepped out once it was open.

Lockon nodded. "That's a long time."

Heero nodded. "It is." He was starting to feel almost out of touch with the idea of home now.

"It must be hard." He paused for a moment. "If you've been here for three years you probably know a lot of the people here."

"Most of them," he said, moving to climb down. "I usually meet someone within the first few months of their arrival. It's not a very big island."

Lockon nodded. "Do you know a Nagi Naoe? I met him in the first aid station when I first arrived."

"I do." Heero looked up from the floor.

Lockon headed down to the floor as well, holding Haro. "Can you tell me anything about him? I know we just met, but I'd like to know more about his situation. He was into the first aid station unconscious."

"Again?" There was a flicker of concern that disappeared into a frown quickly. "Was he injured?"

"As far as I know he wasn't. But he hadn't been eating it seemed."

Heero nodded. "Sounds about normal for him," he said. "He probably exhausted himself training again."

"He does that often?" Lockon asked curiously.

He nodded, another frown crossing his features.

That's not good, Lockon thought to himself. "Why does he train so much?"

Heero sighed. "He does it to exhaust himself on purpose," he said. "He's really only told Duo and myself why... though I think Crawford might know... possibly Aya. Omi might have before, but not now."

Lockon nodded. Obviously something was bothering Nagi. He suspected Heero wouldn't tell him why he was exhausting himself so he wasn't going to ask.

"We've been trying to get him to take better care of himself," Heero said quietly.

"That's good even though I suspect that he hasn't been taking care of himself despite that."

"No... I doubt it."

Lockon nodded. "He acts a lot like one of my teammates, except for the not eating part."

"Who?" Heero looked at him, curious. After all, there were a few times when he and Nagi had been compared to each other as well.

"Setsuna. He's not here though."

Heero nodded. "I see."

Lockon nodded. "He's a good kid though," he said, talking about Setsuna.

Heero nodded. "I've found that most pilots are..."

Lockon nodded. "Most of them." His mind shifted to Al-Saachez and he had to fight the rising anger in him.

Heero nodded.

"So who were your teammates?" Lockon asked, setting Haro down.

Heero nodded to four other Gundams in the hangar, naming the pilots in turn. "Duo, Trowa, Quatre, and Wufei," he said. "They're all here."

Lockon nodded. "I've met them."

"They're good people," Heero said quietly.

Lockon nodded. "Trowa helped me find Haro...kind of by accident, but still."

"Where was he?"

"In my Gundam," Lockon remarked, "sitting in the console."

"That's lucky."

He nodded. "It was."

Heero looked back at Zero. "I should see if those diagnostics are finished," he said. "It was nice talking to you."

Lockon nodded. "It was nice meeting you as well," he said.

Heero nodded in return and then headed back towards Zero.

Lockon went to round up Haro who had started off to explore then took him back to the Gundam so they could do some work.
