Citan came back out from Zechs' room, to see how Alberich was doing.

Alberich had taken a sip of his scotch, his eyes just starting to glaze a little as the alcohol hit him.

"How are you doing?"

"I would better feel, if I more drunk was. And before you anything say, I this before have done."

"I don't doubt it."

Alberich nodded, swirling the amber liquid around in the glass. "Last time, Kantor around was. Other Heralds, and Crathach hangovers to prevent."

Citan nodded.

Alberich took another sip, leaning back into the chair.

Citan sat down in his own chair.

“You leave behind people, in the world you from are?"

"My wife and daughter."

Alberich sighed sadly, "I certain am, that you about them worry."

"I do, but Yui can take care of herself. She defeated me, after all."

"A warrior, she is?" Alberich mused, waiting a moment, "Myste will never a warrior be."

"Is Myste the one you care about?"

Alberich nodded slightly, "She Herald-Chronicler is. The only Herald I trained, who weaponswork never learn could."

Citan chuckled.

"Her lenses, knocked off would be. And she like a rat-terrier is, when she something to know wants."

Citan chuckled again.

Alberich shrugged, seeking some kind of solace in the alcohol as he took another sip.

Citan took a sip of his own drink.

Alberich slowly sipped his drink and stretched his legs out.

"Are you feeling alright?"

"Fine."

Citan nodded.

"Your wife..what is she like?"

"She is wonderful. Beautiful, brave, strong, caring... And a wonderful cook. Of everything from my home I miss here, I miss her cooking the most."

Alberich shook his head a little, "Such not for me is."

"Why do you say that?"

"Wife and children just not for me." Alberich set his drink down. "Being Weaponsmaster, Kantor's company all the time having, and time with Myste is enough."

"I must admit, I do not spend as much time with Yui as I wish that I could."

"Myste knows, that I other duties have." Alberich closed his eyes for a moment, "She keeps Chronicles, including the things I do must."

"Yui knows of my duties as well. She does not like them, but she does not stop me."

"Myste cannot me stop." Alberich opened his eyes again, a slight glaze over them in their currently grey state. "She knows, that Weaponsmasters other duties usually have."

"If Yui chose to stop me, I do not doubt that she could."

"Myste also knows, that there no stopping me is. Not unless Kantor to help was."

"This 'Kantor'. You've spoken of him before."

Alberich nodded, "He is my Companion."

"I'm afraid I likely do not understand the term as you use it."

"Companions take the forms of white horses, with blue eyes." Alberich looked up at the ceiling in thought, "They Choose Heralds. And they closer than any friend or lover are."

Citan nodded.

"Most Heralds MindSpeak their Companions. If Kantor wanted, he me to sleep immediately through that link could put. And he has such before done."

Citan chuckled.

Alberich shrugged, "The nights long are, when one classes during the day and other things at night has."

"They are."

"And you...you family life enjoy?"

"When I am able to."

Alberich nodded. "When you with your family are, what things like?"

Citan smiled. "I have time to tinker in my shed, with Yui cooking and cleaning and trying to ignore me. And we both teach Midori, who is blessed with her mother's beauty and her father's mind."

Alberich took a sip of his drink, "Peaceful, it sounds."

"It is."

"How old, your daughter?"

"She's almost five now."

"Young girl, she is." Alberich commented, "Trainees usually Chosen at around twelve or thirteen are."

Citan nodded. "She is young, but she already has shown she has the potential for incredible talent."

"Talent?" Alberich picked up his drink again, taking a sip. "Other than your mind inheriting?"

"She is... more observant, I suppose you could say, than most."

"Observant?"

"There are things she has... noticed... that others have not."

Alberich nodded, "She Gifted is?"

Citan nodded.

"I my Gift had to hide." Alberich commented, "ForeSight condemned by the Writ and Rule is, because it people to possible futures blinds."

Citan nodded.

"Saw things, others could not."

Citan nodded. "I have tried to protect Midori from outsiders."

"What notices she?"

"There is one, in my world, who has multiple personalities." Citan wasn't sure if Alberich would understand the concept, let alone the reason why. "She can see them."

Alberich nodded to indicate that he somewhat understood, "Anything else? In Valdemar, she perhaps Gifted would be."

“She has shown evidence of telepathy, as well as seeming to have a knack with animals."

"MindSpeech and Animal MindSpeech, then?" Alberich sipped at his drink slowly, "MindSpeech I have, but only with Companions, Heralds, and others with the same Gift."

Citan nodded.

Alberich finished his drink, his eyes definitely glazed over now.

Citan noticed the look in Alberich's eyes. "It looks to me like you are about done."

Alberich nodded slowly, "Hard without Kantor..."

"Would you like assistance to your room?"

"Matters not to me." Alberich felt both empty and numb, almost lonely with the loss of Kantor's presence weighing on him.

Citan stood and moved over to Alberich.

Alberich managed to look at Citan, but couldn't bring himself to really care much.

"Come on, let's go to your room."

Alberich mutely nodded, managing to at least get up on his own.

Citan, as he had with Zechs, slipped his arm under Alberich's to support the other man.

Alberich let Citan assist him, feeling a bit worse than he had the time he got drunk with the other Heralds after Selenay's wedding ceremony.

Citan moved slowly, so that Alberich wasn't pressed.

Alberich numbly put one foot in front of the other, letting Citan lead him to his room.

"You will come see me, if you feel rotten tomorrow?" Citan asked.

Alberich nodded, mentally thinking that if he was feeling rotten, he wasn't going to even get out of bed.

They reached Alberich's door, and Citan pushed it open.

Alberich managed to walk into his room, making his way to the bed and nearly collapsing on it.

"Will you be alright?"

"I can with the alcohol deal."

Citan nodded.

Alberich shrugged, "Check tomorrow, if you wish."

Citan nodded.

Alberich closed his eyes, not caring at all about where he was. Unlike Zechs, he was not one of those who was likely to fight when drunk.

Citan smiled softly, and quietly closed the door to Alberich's room. He put away the food, so that it would be there for everyone tomorrow, and let himself out of the hut.
