fun with logic.

There is no state that is in itself good or bad. A state is only what it is, and this state may cause pain or it may cause happiness.

Conscious beings have means by which to elicit their intention and cause a change in state; this is through an act. Only acts may be good or bad.

A good act is one that elicits/effects/causes a state through intention and causes happiness, in the context of all perceiving beings. This is goodness.
A bad act is one that elicits/effects/causes a state through intention and causes pain, in the context of all perceiving beings. This is evil.

Beings may be ignorant of the painful or happy effects their acts cause.
Beings which allow themselves to forget about the painful states that their acts create must, as children, be reminded of their effects. For who would want to cause or allow pain but evil beings?

How does one raise a child to be good? With patience, love, and encouragement.

But, how does one discourage evil, which seems to be inherent in intent?

I will think on that one.
