What an absolutely exhausting Sunday/Monday. It all starts off with no sleep, a 5am taxi ride to
JFK, an 8am flight into
LAX, accompanied by turbulence, hunger, and nausea, then a 30 minute wait at baggage claim, then another 30 minutes on the freeway, only to come home to find a stack of bills and a screwed up financial aid award package sent by the school I will be attending in about 4 months. Been bogged down by errands since I've gotten back from NY. Bills, phone calls, 3 different to-do lists. -__-
Anyway, yesterday I went to go eat lunch with
Nancy at a Persian restaurant called
Sham Shairi. The meat skewers and rice were delicious and the place is right across from my favorite indian restaurant,
Ambala Dhaba. For dessert it was gelato at
Angelato at Third St. Promenade. Anyone agree gelato seems to be the new boba? Not everyone liked boba when it first came out but everyone seems to love gelato. Haven't heard of a single person not liking it, only not knowing exactly what it is....
At night at Nancy's place I caught myself sucked into a documentary on Pandas on the History channel. Also met 2 of her nice roommates who happen to go to Mount St. Mary's and one who goes to UCLA. Anyway, the documentary trying to get a Panda named
Bai Yun at
San Diego Zoo pregnant first by mating with another Panda Shi Shi, but when he wouldn't respond after 2 years of trying to mate the two together they used artificial insemenation. Finally
Hua Mei ("China USA") was born. I swear I took our mascot at IH for granted. Pandas are so friggin cute, especially when the mothers are nursing the cubs. They hold them and cuddle their babies just like humans do with their babies, maybe with even more affection than we do? O_o So adorable....
And there's the lasting question... Panda. Bear or raccoon?
Late night munchies - off to
Tito's Tacos! And of course, we had to make it back in time to watch
Desperate Housewives at 9pm. There's this new show called
Grey's Anatomy after DH. Yesterday was the series premiere. Pretty damn good show, like a pre-quel to
ER. Oh I can feel it coming, addiction, and I usually don't get addicted to shows either. Guess now I have to leave Sunday nights 9pm-11pm open just for TV.
